Vol Network announcers...

I kept laughing at the TV every time the guy kept refering to that 16 yard field goal. You think Will Overstreet would of pulled him over to the side during a time-out and said that there never was a 16 yard field goal.

I just figured that Will Overstreet and the camera crew were enjoying watching that idiot make an a$$ of himself over and over again.

That announcer even stole the most famous quote by John Ward when he said "Touchdown Big Orange!!!". I can't remember which TD it was, but I just had to shake my head because noone will ever be able to say that and sound as good as JW. I sorta liked hearing it though. It brought back many fond memories.:cray:

Overstreet was fair. His partner in crime announced the wrong UT RB almost every time.

That was a bit on the ridiculous side. My buddy and I could not believe how many times he called the RBs by the wrong name. How can one be that far out in left field?

I don't know what you guys are complaining about. I just made a game out of correcting these guys' every sentence. It was fun. I liked when they had no idea who the hell Dennis Rogan was. To hell with Overstreet if he doesn't keep up with the Vols enough to know our freshmen. It was the worst announcing I have ever witnessed in my life.

Even if he didn't know it from memory, what excuse could they possibly have for not having the full roster sitting right in front of them? It took about 30 awkward seconds for someone to come back and tell them who #41 was!

Man, I'm glad to see I wasn't the only one in disbelief at how bad the announcing was.

Overstreet never said anything insightful...but at least he got the names right most of the time.

That other bum had the single worst performance I've ever heard from a play-by-play guy. He repeatedly referred to Foster and Hardesty as Lamarcus Coker....he referred to Jon Heffney as Austin Rogers...he referred to Josh Briscoe as Lucas Taylor...continuously mispronounced Brent Vinson's name...and what was the deal with him reporting that Carroll had a concussion and would be out for the rest of the game?? On the very next series, Carroll trots right back out on the field and leads the Bulldogs to a score.....that announcer was the most unprepared, misinformed dope I've ever heard call a game.

I agree with pretty much everything that you guys have said. Randy Smith is a tool. His play by play is atrocious. The picture quality of the PPV is not worth half the price you pay to get the game. And in the one game I actually paid for (So. Miss), the picture completely went out at least half a dozen times. You know Vol Network can afford to fix these issues and offer a great broadcast, and it is disappointing that they insist on shortchanging the fans like this.

I always thought I'd rather listen to anyone talk than Bob Kesling.

Randy Smith changed that. I would hope UT reviews it, and realizes that we are too high level of an institution to put a retard like that on the mic.

The team of Smith and Overstreet is about as bad as it can get.

Lou Holtz and Corky from "Life Goes On" is the only tandem that I can imagine being any worse.

I agree. The announcers were not good. They seemed unprepared. And what's the deal with calling out all the wrong player names. Couldn't they afford a spotter? The picture quality was crap. It had so much digital skipping I felt like I was watching streamming on a dial-up ISP. This is a very bush league production for a program that prides itself on being a first class opperation. Vol Network... Clean it up!!!!!!!

It was a comedy of errors, with the emphasis on comedy. It may say a lot about me (more specifically about my “condition” during the game), but I thought it added to the entertainment value of the event. I cracked up several times.

I thought one of the funnier moments was something Will Overstreet said when the Vols fumbled near the goal line. During the scramble for the ball in the endzone, no one knew who had the ball or if he was down before he fumbled or anything. Then out of the blue Overstreet blurted, “It’s official, there’s the signal, it’s a touchdown.”

He said that after one of the UT players in the pile signaled touchdown. LOL. I nearly fell out of my chair laughing.

I rarely watch PPV games so I found it very amusing this time. If had to listen to it every week it would get old in a hurry.

I could not believe the crap I heard on the game Saturday. Randy Smith has got to be the worst play by play announcer ever. If he said 16 yrd field goal one more time I was going to reach through the screen and choke him. How stupid can any man be? Will Overstreet didn't help because he went along with it.

I wished I would have DVR'd it so I could have gotten a count on how many times Smith called out the wrong name. I kept asking myself, is he watching the same game as I was. At least Pat Ryan would have corrected him. The Southern Miss coverage was just as bad by Smith, but Pat kept it listenable.

To be fair there was an official in the endzone signaling TD. I hope he was going off that rather than a player.

You're right. I missed it live somehow but noticed the official during the replay last night.

Apologies to Will who I have great respect for.

It was still a very entertaining game and the broadcast team contributed to it. :)

Who would you least like to sit infront of for fear of being spit on....

Lou Holtz or the Great Muta?

I liked the fact that he had no idea who Dennis Rogan was despite the fact that he was taking kickoffs in the scrimmages. He acted like he had never heard of him - I was telling my wife that was who that was 2 minutes before they came back to say who it was.
