I keep hearing there is a problem with the Vol Navy docks from fellow boaters but cannot find anything online other than an update from August 10th on the Vol Navy site saying they were working on a solution. I have heard everything from it is fine to some saying there are no places to dock except Calhouns and Tennessee Grille. We have 7 vessels coming up from 50-70 miles away by water and will not have time to drive up beforehand and check it out. Anyone on here know anything about any potential problems? It is hard to imagine it is not good to go being 4 days from gametime and not a single media outlet is reporting a problem but there is a lot of chatter in the boating community that Saturday will be a cluster. Any info will be greatly appreciated and GO VOLS!

Can't help you except to say I wouldn't be surprised if they have a large area that's restricted due to the Henley Bridge reconstruction.

Yea I was about to post it lol. Doesnt sound as bad as all the Debbie Downers have been making it sound. Just have to follow stacking rules a little closer. Last year at the Florida game I had a 18' runabout tie up to my 28' cruiser and a 34' cruiser tied up on the other side of him. I was very happy to be on the inside!

GO VOLS cannot wait. Stop by the docks and holler! May toss ya a Big Orange Jello Shot!

I think boomsday is going to be the more interesting event, according to their website the "UT/City" docks are only available for temporary mooring from 12 PM on Sunday till 8 PM and then after the fireworks TWRA directing the largest vessels into place first

I'm guessing these "UT/City" docks are the ones at the Tennessee Grill and the one that is partially dismantled?

I wouldnt know about Boomsday as we will be back in our cove downriver by then. The docks I am referring to are between Calhouns and Tn Grill. Some of the docks behind Tn Grill are the rowing teams and are off limits. The docks I have always moored up to are the ones by the Gazebo on the riverwalk about halfway between Tn Grill and Calhouns.

We have 3 from Watts Bar and 4 from Ft Loudon but all but one of us are at Ft Loudon Marina by the dam. We have one person picking up with us at Fox Rd Marina. Our Watts Bar friends are about 20 miles below the dam.

ah cool, I'm on Watts Bar, about 50 miles from the Dam, will be coming up Friday morning sometime. I just hope I hit the lock at the right time. Don't really want to be sitting there forever waiting on the lock to be ready.

Good luck with that, the locks can be a pain in the ass. I am in a 28' Glastron power cruiser named "The Bee Seas". Give us a holler if you see us!
