Vol Nation rallies around young fan bullied for homemade shirt

It's times like this when you realize how awesome the UT family really is...I love everybody is pulling together for that young man!...Make sure he gets lots of 1998 national championship gear so he can parade that in front of those bullies at school!

The address is available in that FB feed. I’ve screenshot it if y’all want me to post it.

I’m going to order him a few things and have it delivered there.

Respectfully, I am not a FB person, never have been, I'm 65 and always have been a huge Vol Fan, this story (honestly) made me want to cry like a baby. I think partially because/on behalf of my 9 year old grandson who is SO shy, he doesn't like to go "out" anywhere except sometimes to eat with his parents. We are going to try to bring him to the game this coming Saturday (I haven't seen a game since Jamal Lewis was a freshman)....anyway, I would highly appreciate some info on the Teacher as to "how to send" something to her, something Vol-ish, for this child, and I'm dirt poor but I want to help anyway I can. Can you help with an address for the school or any other appropriate info. And thank you very much in advance.

I question the story and I think a lot of people have made assumptions that caused them to interpret this event a particular way. I like to know what I'm giving to before I give. You can call that whatever you like but I call it dilligent.

I gave a couple shirts a pack of UT playing cards and a media guide. Less than a hundred bucks including shipping. It's not like I gave my life savings.

Dang nabbit y'all. Something keeps getting stuck in my eye reading this thread😅.
Reminds me of a kid I knew about 30 years ago who's parents were having a rough time. He only got one thing for Christmas but it was the UT jacket he wanted more than anything. One of the best daMn Christmases that kid can remember and he proudly wore that jacket for years.

As I understand it the bullies were a couple of girls who didn't participate in college color day.

They weren't wearing lizard gear so they can be forgiven in my book. I'm emailing the teacher. If the teacher thinks it would be appreciated I'm sending a couple UT shirts for the girls. No child left behind.

This is the kinda story we all needed this week. To varying degrees we have all took last weeks embarrassing loss to crazy levels on here and in our lifes. Yes the loss was heart wrenching but this is a solid reminder that it's ONLY a GAME. There are folks out there that bleed orange regardless of the scores and may not be as fortunate as others....I don't know more than most everyone else on here about this kid besides he wanted to show his UT pride when other kids were wearing their college shirts and he apperantley didn't have one or forgot to wear it. Regardless it doesn't matter what kind of background he comes from, this kid showed us adults what we all forgot about for a few days, our love for Tennessee sports. I love that UT and so many fans on here have jumped behind this kid and plan on showering him with shirts and gifts but judging by the response maybe there are some other things besides 500 shirts we can do for this young man. Game ticket? Meet the team? College tuition fund? Again, don't know his families history but let's support this kid in other ways than a hundred shirts.

P.S.: Amazing job by VolShop to turn his design into a shirt!!!

Update.....I heard from his teacher.
His shirt size is Youth Large.

Come on VolNation....lets give this young Vol fan a September to Remember. I'm mailing my stuff ASAP. GO VOLS!!!
Did you email her? I haven't heard back yet.

Yes I emailed her last night. She responded this morning. I had asked her just for his first name but she won't divulge it. She cannot believe the out-pouring of support from Vol- Nation for this young Vols fan!
I know you meant nothing by asking his name. But kudos to her. Smart to not divulge.

I only asked for his FIRST name...I wanted to send him a personal note. No big deal though! Who knows how this outpouring will affect this young man's life! He will never forget it. Most of us were ready to burn our UT gear on Saturday but this story put things in perspective for me! 😢

This response is, in microcosm, a modern-day expression of the spirit that, historically, gave Tennessee its legendary reputation as the Volunteer State. To quote Jimmy Doolittle, as played by Alec Baldwin in the movie Pearl Harbor, “There's nothing stronger than the heart of a volunteer.”

All of us ultimately became proud supporters of this program and university for the same reason that this young man did—pure, unbridled love. That passion can and should endure resolutely for a lifetime, regardless of the year-to-year fluctuations of our on-the-field fortunes.
