Breaking that up a bit .....
Leak is a technician, he follows instruction, and he does not improvise well. Call it stoicism on his part, worrying more about process than result, whatever. The reason Tebow is so exciting is that he does "make" plays. He acts on instinct and his motivation and enthuisasm is much closer to the surface than Leak's.
Its a matter of style. Leak, over the long haul, is better and more productive. Tebow shows flashes of athleticism that translate into big plays and that's great, but it cannot be sustained. This is why Leak is actually so important to Tebow's development. Leak (and Meyer) have to calm Tebow down and get him to balance that force of shear reaction with executing a designed play.
If he succeeds in doing that, sky's the limit.
As to spread option being stopped, I think its too early to tell. With the speed and athleticism Florida will bring to the table next year, and the obvious threat of the QB keep, if it is done right it will be really remarkable. I know everyone says SEC defensive speed is too good. And that may be true, but objectively speaking the SEC offensive speed is also excellent (particularly Florida) and so we'll just have ot wait and see. I personally think it has a chance and that, in two years, with Havin and Tebow juniors, Florida may set all sorts of records for scoring and yardage.
I don't think that many Florida fans are booing Leak and those that do are quickly chastised in the stands. Its fun for media and opposing fans to talk about -- Florida beating up its own -- but it is not representative of the way the vast majority of us feel about the situation.
