Noticed a lot of people stating they don't believe we can beat FLA until we actually do. Don't know why this bothers me but it does. Maybe its just people are using the wrong term but there is a difference in believing we can win and just flat out thinking we won't. The latter seems fine to me but why in the world would you not believe we can. I don't mean to get all philosophical but belief can be related to faith. This means that a lot of fans have lost faith in the VOLS. I understand the last 8 years or so of misery and an even longer streak against FLA but don't lose FAITH.

We absolutely can win this game. Don't stop believin'! Just "take a midnight train going anywhere" :clapping:

We can definitely win, but I'm mentally prepared for a letdown this year considering what's happened in this series. I'm numb to the losing now. I've never wanted a game so bad.

I have learned that since I have absolutely no control over how a game turns out, it's just better to enjoy game day for what it is. I'll have a couple brews, grill something good, and spend some time with family while watching the game. If they win, that's awesome. But if they lose, I'm well prepared to not let it get me down.

I'm not one of those that doesn't believe we will win until I see it, I just don't have faith in Butch after last year's game and this year's OU game.

Has nothing to do with the players, but everything to do with coaching. In fact I believe we have the better team by far. But Butch will find a way to crap a turd yet again.

I agree and I think that comes with age (turning 40 next year) but I have to admit that OU game lingered. I'm trying to suppress my excitement this week but I know that come this Sunday I won't be OK with an "L". I really want this game but for the whole VolNation and this team almost more than myself.

I've chosen to stay off VN starting midnight tomorrow. Ending probably midnight of the following week. Win or lose this place has a breakdown

I attended UT in the mid 90s and then it was an expectation that we at least contend for the East every year. I feel bad for those that "tuned in" in the mid 2000s and have not experienced UT Football at the level we grew accustomed to in my days. We have to understand many younger folks have "battered Vol syndrome" and rightfully so since there have been SO MANY letdowns in the last decade. From having 12 men on the field vs LSU to the entire Kiffin-Dooley debacles to the 13 Vandy game, 14 Florida game and 15 OU game it is sad what those that attended UT and younger people just tuning in have had to endure.

I still have faith Butch is the guy to get us where we need to go.

Well you see, I did a post a couple of years ago about the deal that CPF had to make with the devil in order to get the 1998 National Championship. The bottom line is that we are under a curse. Thus, until I see a win against Florida, I will believe that "we can't win".

Look, it's as good an explanation as any...

I agree with jeffmcflurry. I just can't subject myself to being all in all of the time like I used to be. It just wears on me and my wife and dogs hated me when I reacted the way I did in the past. I can't put myself or them through that anymore. It is best to just go into it with the mindset that it is what it is. A few beers, fun friends and family. No big deal either way. Wish I could believe like I used to but just can't. Of course, if we lose, I'm probably going to go nuts anyway and might end up in jail, divorced and dog-less. Hope we win.

I'm a big CBJ supporter but the OU game did open the door for criticism in my mind as well. I hope it's not part of his overall coaching philosophy that he's too stubborn to change (or maybe it was Debord) but in any case, lack of adjustments in the 2nd half and keeping the hurry up going was very odd. They deserve every bit of criticism they get for that game but I won't take it as far as most on this site. CBJ has done too much for this program in just two years to give up on him just yet.

I also believe 2016 is the year and have believed that all along. More favorable schedule (UF and ALA at home) and his last two recruiting classes will be SOPH and JRS. It will be the make or break season in my mind.

I disagree... no reason not to be right in the freakin middle of the race this year. Arky looks terrible now, Mizzou too. If we beat UF like we should, the UGA game determines the east. We could lose to Bama and still control our own destiny.

I totally agree with that...just saying that I wouldn't decide CBJ's fate until I see what happens next year. People hate to hear it but fact is his two Top 5 classes are still underclassmen. It's a big deal. I just believe next year with more mature players and a favorable schedule will leave no excuses.

I am disappointed in anything worse than 8-4 this year. I believe that's realistic - ALA, UGA, FLA will all be tough not to mention we still have to beat everyone else.

The ability to win is there (and has been more than not). But it seems like there is "something" about the Gators that makes our coaches coach straight retarded (no offense).

I admit have mellowed out after having kids. There was a time I would throw stuff at the TV, shout profanities at various sports bars across the country when we screwed up, and would be down the entire next week waiting for he next game. I agree losing to Florida sucks, but I honestly believe we could have beaten them almost every time we have played them! I refuse to believe we will lose to FL this year. This year or any year! We had the OK game. We got this! Go Vols

Yep...I suggest all young fans go to youtube and watch Travis Stephens go off in the swamp. That will be my favorite VOL memory of all time. I really want to predict the reincarnation of that moment with Hurd this year - busting one up the gut and trucking the safety!!! Still get chills.

I really hate hearing Butch continue to talk about how young we are. They may very well have to play younger players, but quit making excuses and coach football. I see it as an effort to deflect criticism when they lose games they should win, such as OU and UF last year. No excuse to lose either game.

I'm not totally off the Butch train, but lose to UF Saturday and I've lost about all faith I have in him winning big here moving forward. This is not a FL team of the 90's we're playing. We have the better team, and should win.

Looks like we're in the same boat. I hate hearing the we're young excuses all the time as well (although I agree they are fact). We all get it. Someone needs to tell him that the fan base is tired of hearing it. Some understand it and some don't just quit harping on it.

This from a guy who defends him constantly.
