Six years ago I was on a beach in Vietnam. One of the fisherman was wearing a VOLS shirt. He probably had no idea who they are, but he was wearing it...

Heh, you reminded me: I was in Haiti for the "friendly invasion" in '94-'95. Haitian men and boys seem to wear nothing BUT American t-shirts: NY Giants, Hard Rock Café, I'm with Stupid, all of them. Stopped counting how many Tennessee t-shirts I saw in the six months I was there, and probably not a single one of the guys wearing them could find Tennessee on a map of the US. :)

I'm in Sydney, Australia. Studied 6 months at UT during football season in 2009. Watch all the games at around 3-4am here. Heck even watched most of the basketball. Heading to Knoxville in Sept for the Sooners game. Vols are everywhere!

Wow.

Long flight for a football game.

True VFL status to you my friend.

Thanks mate! My wife will be joining me for her first football game ever. I'm so excited. Not sure whether I should be purchasing tickets already on StubHub or similar because I don't want to miss out on tickets, given that I'm travelling around 19hrs. Thoughts?

Tickets will be pricey on on the street on game day or on stub hub. I would probably just roll in and buy from a scalper. I would take care of lodging in advance.

Eliminate the anxiety and get your tickets ahead of time. Scalpers will be asking top dollar right up to kick- off. Been there; done that....

Oddly, people are a bit shocked UT won the 1998 NC in Phoenix when ever I bring it up.

I was stationed in Yuma from 92 - 95. Luck of all luck.....I was living in Florida when we won the National Championship. :)

How did you end up there, if I may ask?

Also, allow me to be the first to say the name of your city of residence, while probably normal there, is pretty funny back here in the U.S.
