Yep. Top of the mountain on 111 from Dunlap to Sparta. Not far down the road from @CagleMtnVol. They were somewhat mindful when they strip mined that whole area. There was always a formidable tree line at the hwy and you never got a completely full view of the wasteland from the hwy. There may have been some mining on the left maybe too based on all the access turnoffs. But, mostly on the right was the big operation. That operation broke ground 45 years ago plus or minus. Got depeleted. Couple decade reclamation, then parcel sell offs.

It seems like just the other day.
Drove by the newly opened mine weekly on my way to and from Grad School at TN Tech.
