In some gang cultures, the skull, with its 3 prominent cavities, two for the eyes, one for the mouth, often is used to symbolize the number “3.” This is also true for MS-13 and also for some other gangs as well, though it is not dispositive; there are lots of other reasons and meanings behind skull tattoos as well.

It has to be viewed in its totality to draw any dependable conclusions. Some people are convinced; others are not. Truth is, all that matters is what the people with the power to make decisions think. The rest of us are just along for the ride.
