Thought I'd toss this out here as a cool projection of what you guys think the 2009 depth chart will look like? What QB will emerge as #1? What freshman will get significant PT? Where will those ATH players wide up playing? I'm still trying to put mine together but here's what I'm thinking so far:

QB
I JUST can't decide right now. Part of me thinks Kiffin will drain some measure of success out of Crompton, the other part of me thinks it's all over for JC and the starter will end up being Coleman. But I think I'll just have to wait until Spring to give a better idea.

HB
1. Creer
2. Hardesty
3. Poole
Redshirts: Williams and Oku (if signed)

FB
Not sure, gut feeling says Cooper remains starter.

WR
1. Gerald Jones
2. Denarius Moore
3. I think a FR makes an impact here, either Nuke or Teague or both.
4. All out battle between Paige, A. Rogers, Green and anyone else left
Redshirts: I say they redshirt Z. Rogers and 1-2 of the other freshmen who may not be ready after practices and coaching evaluations.

TE
1. Warren
2. Stocker

I hope we'll see more Warren this year and less Stocker. I've heard Chaney wants to run more, so we may still see some 2 TE sets, but I'm going to hope Chaney has a few ideas on how to use TE's.

OL
Not sure, but I think Schofield starts as a freshman.

DE
1. Martin
2. Brown
Just not sure on other guys like Walker and Mathis. Who knows if Gerald Williams will get pushed up as an end more or stay at LB. Freshman Marlon Walls has beefed up per CEO, but is he a DE or DT? Rae Sykes impact?

DT
1. Williams
2. Don't Know
I don't know enough about the other guys, Nelson got injured last year right? Thomas? Langley? Walls perhaps? Not sure.

OLB
1. McCoy
2. Wilks? Donald? King?
Again, I am unsure where these guys will stand once the practice, workouts, and evaluations fall.

MLB
1. Don't Know
This one seems very up in the air to me. I don't think the new staff will be as high on Reveiz as the Fulmer crew was. Could Askew start as a freshman here? If Gerald Williams stays as a LB, does he start here?

CB
1. Vinson
2. Rogan
Part of me has a feeling that Myles or Jackson will squirm their way in here as a starter, though. Who knows if Vinson can keep focused and Rogan still feels a little unproven to me. I think we've seen the last of other previous starters like Marsalous Johnson though except in dime packages or something. I don't know much about the other young recruits that we picked up in the last year or so, Waggner and Evans, and don't anticipate seeing Edwards, Oliver, or even Gordon making much impact in their first year.

FS
1. Morley
2. Myles/Jackson
Again if one of the two big name signees doesn't start as a corner, I think they'll be in the mix at backup safety/nickel formations.

SS
1. Berry
2. Berry
3. Berry
4. Berry
5. Who cares.

great post overall.....however, u flubbed on the LB's and DT's..........at OLB, Savion Fravier will be a starter.....Lamarcus Thompson will also be in the mix, he will prob. start at MLB........

ON DLine, Andre Mathis was moved to DT........otherwise, thanx for giving us something to look forward to!!

Oh, I was definitely impressed with Frazier when I was looking at his highlights from HS back when we were recruiting him, and I definitely assumed he'd be in the mix, I just mean right now it's hard to tell what the coaches think of the remaining group of guys we have. I hadn't heard much about Lamarcus starting at MLB but I wouldn't be upset at that at all either.

Just meant to spark discussion on what everyone thinks, not really trying to say that I know or even expect some of these things to happen.

I think Janzen Jackson starts with Morley (if he's still on the team) and Myles sharing back up time. In a year when Morley graduates and Berry goes to the NFL, Myles and Jackson will be experienced sophomore starters. It's gonna be beast.

QB
I'm going to reserve judgment until Spring Practice amps up... but I like Coleman or Crompton here. Kiffin's words about Palmer being "too dumb" etc made me think about Crompton. Dunno.

HB
1. Creer
2. Hardesty
3. Poole

FB
1. Cooper
2. Johnson

WR
1. Gerald Jones
2. Denarius Moore
3. Warren (if he ends up moving over to WR)
3. Depends on the package. Nuke and Teague both stand a high chance of seeing a lot of the PT here.

TE
1. Stocker (or Warren if he sticks at TE)

OL
LT Scott
LG McClendon
C McNeil
RG VLAD!
RT Brimfield

DE
1. Martin
2. Brown
3. Mess of guys getting PT in a high rotation system.

DT
1. Williams
2. Victor Thomas
3. Langley

OLB
1. McCoy
2. Thompson, King... whoever puts up in Spring and Summer.

MLB
1. Askew... don't see much there. Askew should fit, looks to be a great MLB for Monte's system.

CB
1. Vinson
2. Rogan
3. HUGE mess of guys fighting for potential Nickel and Dime situations.

FS
1. Morley
2. Myles

SS
1. Berry
2. Jackson

Picking up Jackson & Myles was huge. It adds depth at saftey & gives us some more great talent for after Berry & Morley leave this year.

QB- A calculation as much as a competition. Coleman can still be the QB of the future. Crompton or Stephens might be better at warming the seat and encouraging top recruits to take a long look.

RB- Hardesty, Creer, Poole, Freshman

FB- Cooper, Johnson, Bartholomew
TE- Stocker, Cottam, Warren (to be used in different places)
RT- Thomas/Schofield
RG- McClendon, Brimfield
C- McNeil (I wouldn't be completely surprised to see Revis get PT if he's at 310)
LG- Richard, Sawtelle
LT- Scott, Thomas
WR- G Jones, Freshman, Moore, others (This is high profile and needed for recruiting... virtually no chance a Freshman doesn't play alot or start)

SS- Morley, Jackson (best S trio by far in CFB)
FS- Berry
CB- Vinson, Gordon, Fleming
CB- Rogan, Myles?
OLB- McCoy,
OLB- Frazier, ?
MLB- G Williams?, Donald comes into his own w/great coaching, Askew
DE- Martin, Sykes
DE- Brown, Walker, Walls
DT- Big Dan, Jeffery
DT- Langley, Thomas (maybe Wes Brown)

Will be kind of interesting to see what CLK/CMK do with guys like Sullins and Reviez.

QB - Who I would start - BJ Coleman
Who Kiffin will start - I'll go Nick Stephens on this one. He just seems to fit more with Kiffin's O.

...and the way he hits. I am hoping for big things from him this year. He could easily be the kind of "wild boy" Coach O is fond of. GO VOLS

Just looking at our roster everyone can agree that we have talent, well except at QB. Every position will be a competition (exclude Berry). We have had just as much talent as anyone in the SEC. I hope Kiffin can change the atmosphere and bring some excitement into the locker room. :fireworks:

QB - doesn't matter because we are going to run the ball 9,000 consecutive times. Whoever doesn't trip over their damn feet while trying to hand the ball off.

RB - Hardesty, Creer, Bryce Brown, Poole

WR - doesn't matter because we are going to run the ball

TE - whoever blocks the best

I think Coleman has the tools to be very good...the questions are can the new staff coach him up and will he get the attention he needs in the spring and fall in order to make up for the past two years he's been through

I am honestly pulling for B.J. as the starter......I mean I don't know why really, other than the fact that if he pulls off a miraculous kind of season and picks up the offense quickly, the need for a stud QB becomes less important next season since he's still just a sophomore.

A stud QB is extremely important for next year, it just means we won't have to start him as a rookie which is a good thing. I'd like to back to the rythm of taking a top ranked QB every year so we always have four on the roster with a couple developing young ones and at least two legit starters.
