VN Negavols quoted in TFP article

Sports radio down here sounds like Knoxville circa 2005. It's hilarious how similar the Fire Richt argument is to the Fire Fulmer lynchmobs.

Exactly. I live about 45 mins from Athens and fans have been in meltdown since halftime Saturday.

Come guys. Fess up. Like emotional school girls caught up in the moment. Can't see tomorrow. Start the coaching carousel again. Some really want this. You know who you are.

My "ignore" list has quadrupled this season. That being said, I watched the entire game on t.v. NEVER believing VOL players & coaches could pull that one out! Great job BIG ORANGE!:hi:

Never thought I would see a newspaper quoting people from a message board.

That almost shows invalidity. Did they really have nobody else to quote? If not, why included these without the consent of those who wrote them? Seems a little tabloidish almost. We have the right to be frustrated.

I'm the one who had the first couple of quotes, and I'm more than glad to own them!!! One little miracle comeback due to Dobbs' heroics and USC's pathetic habit of collapsing in the 4th, doesn't change the truth in what I posted. I said Jones was getting schooled by Spurrier and he absolutely was. We won in spite of poor coaching, simply because of Dobbs and a pathetic South Carolina defense, and defensive coordinator.

As for Jones long term, I still don't think he has shown us anything much on the field yet, (he's still only beaten 1 ranked opponent, USC last year) and I'm not convinced he makes the right calls for this program. Sure he can recruit, but coaching is way more than recruiting. It's making the right personnel decisions, developing players, scheming well, managing games well, and inspiring players to overachieve. It's obvious that we should have been playing Dobbs from the get go this year. We would have at least 2 more wins, maybe even 3, and be in the running for the SEC East. Yet he chose to play a concrete statue like Worley, who holds the ball for an eternity, and let this season go down the tubes.

I haven't given up on Jones yet, because he does recruit so well. But, hands down, he definitely needs to improve the other aspects of his coaching.

I love the "fans" who says .."We're not the only fans who do this blah blah blah" There's a reason 99.9% of the fans on any message board never use their real names. Not 1 person affiliated with a fan like message board would confront any coach or player about how chitty they think they are and how much they ****. Social media has allowed fans the opportunity to bash anyone and any thing w/out repercussion or consequence (me included). Obviously now we as fans see that not only do players and recruits read boards like this but the media does as well, so be prepared to have your statements quoted.

Not gonna bother debating.
But for long term health, at least take time after a win to enjoy the moment. There is always later to be grumpy.

The 10:35 and the 10:36 quotes are from 87Vol. The last quote is from SMGVols. The quote about the Women's basketball team was probably by MEDVOL since he was responding to a basketball quote at the time and he edited his post just about the time this thread was started.

smh

You say Butch got schooled by Spurrier, then proceed to credit Dobbs and "a pathethic South Carolina defense, and defensive coordinator." You do realize who the coach of said defense and boss of said coordinator is, right?

Butch = 2-0 vs. Spurrier. School may be in session, but you've got the wrong coach behind the podium.

Agree with Omghulkhands about not seeing an article written about what is being said on a message board.

However, we must realize that is social media world we live in. What we write is visible to the world and it will be used for whatever purpose someone wants to use it. Just like those who warn young persons what they write on Facebook could end up causing them a job -- and has -- what is written here is fair play for anyone to read. I suspect rival coaches have used statements from this board to recruit players Tennessee is highly interested in. We have to realize that the great majority of Tennessee fans are the silent majority. Posters on this board are not silent and represent both ends of the spectrum --ardent fans who stick with UT through thick and thin and truly bleed orange as well as bandwagoners, negavols, and trolls.

For a journalist, and I use that word lightly these days, any source is fair game. And if it is documented, which it was, no one can say anything about it. In retrospect, I'm surprised we haven't seen it before now. Several of those quotes in the article are those I remember from Saturday night and shook my head about. In my opinion, it will not make any difference if posters knew what they were going to leave on this board ended upon on the front page of whatever newspaper or cable program that might make the most impression on them, it doesn't matter to them how they come across. Some people insist on making a sow's ear out of silk. For some, it is just to stir things up because of the anonymity associated with the Internet but for some it is just their cup is half empty nature.

I'm sure the negavols and the trolls on here will have plenty to jump on with this comment, it doesn't matter what Butch Jones and the coaching staff does and how the culture and the mind set of the Vols have changed from what it was, "don't confuse me with facts when I have my mind made up."

I was ecstatic about the come from behind victory, the never-say-die attitude of Team 118, and for all the work that Butch Jones and the coaching staff has put in and continue to put in on behalf of my beloved university. One of the quotes that was texted to me just after the SC missed field goal and UT had sealed the victory said it all, "OMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMG".

GBO!! #WIN OUT!!

What's the point of a message board if you have to edit and hold back on your posts? Sounds boring.

I get it if the only point of this site was to share information, but it's the discussions and arguments that really make this place entertaining. Don't take that away because one dumb reporter can't understand football fans.

This. Facebook is the appropriate place for happy, feel good only crap. A message board is place to discuss both things you like and dislike. It's OK to disagree with each other and have a discussion. The only obnoxious thing I find on this board is the "if you don't agree with me you aren't a real fan" posts. However, being this is a message board, those folks have the right to post their opinion. However wrong it is.

won "in spite of coaching". I read that crap the other night. Embarrassing.

I think some would say kicking it twice into swirling winds was embarrassing. Or running it up the gut on 3rd and short to no avail more than once when other plays had been more effective.

There are thousands of fans on this website at any given time. They aren't all going to be as civil as one would like especially when it appears we will lose to a USC team that was beaten by both UK and Mizzou and let Vandy score 34. I truly love how it all worked out but let's not over inflate who it was we actually beat or how we actually beat them.

Read my post above, I've already taken credit for them, and I stand by them. Jones was getting schooled and he still hasn't shown us much of anything on the field. One lucky comeback and USC collapse doesn't change that.

Did you read that or are you just browsing my posts and not researching? What's your angle pal?

Oh, I read it the night you posted it. Thought it was funny for you to question who can judge bad fans after dedicating a thread to doing just that.

And, what's with all the 'pals', pal?

BINGO. I agree completely. I'm happy how it turned out too, but the fact is Jones still hasn't proven he is a good coach yet. He's only proven he is a good recruiter.

and I start getting texts @ right now from people outside of the area in California and Colorado calling me and other vol fans idiots. Not all people understand message board idiocy and it's embarrassing
Then why don't you leave or quit logging on? I mean, you act as if you and a few others carry the fan torch around here and have the capacity to decide who and who is not a fan etc. You guys ***** and moan as much as the so called negavols.

You look at these members as not real fans, I think they are probably some of the most passionate we have. Now granted some are just stirring the pot, but others have real emotion in their post. You can see the emotion if your looking at it objectively. Hell, I had to restrain myself from coming on here and venting like hell Saturday night. I was so pissed when we let them get up by 14 that I wanted to throw the remote through the freaking TV! Can't take it out on my wife, children or dog so the next best thing is this forum. Its like being at a bar watching the game and seeing the emotions go from despondent to elation. When its going bad everyone is *****ing about play calling, refs, sorry line play etc. Then when it gets going good its all high fives and singing Rocky Top and the other stuff is forgotten for the time being. This is really no different.

This calling out of members because of perceived negativity is getting out of hand and is turning a good forum into one that's not so fun anymore.

VolNation is huge! We have major news media clamoring for our comments.

I expect Freak to be on Hannity, Kelly Files (need pics), ESPN and CNBC giving stock advice.

You need consent to quote a public website? If you're ashamed of your conduct, keep it in the confines of your home, not on the public internet. lol
