VN Interview with John Calipari

Good job brother Hat. Just wish Cal had've tried to ratchet up the heat a little bit when you asked him that last question about the Tennessee rivalry. Guess he thought it would be better played not giving any bulletin board fodder.

I like how he sorta danced around the rivalry issue...the very week SI honors this very rivalry (along with 4 others of course).

I think Cal sees the rivalry for what it is, an interesting regular season game. If your goal is to win a National Championship, you can't get too invested in a nonconference matchup in February.

You better since it's a late season game against what will probably be a ranked team from the SEC. Will be huge for the rpi....Either way...

I think both UT and Memphis will have very high seeds wrapped up by the time they play. I don't see any scenario under which either team is lower than a 3.

The outcome could very well determine who gets a number one seed come selection Selection Sunday.

I agree, but the winner of that game will definitely be catapulted toward a #1 seed.

I'd be interested to hear what he thinks of the Mike Davis era at UAB. Mike Anderson gave him fits (relatively speaking) and while the Davis style is less challenging, he's stepped up recruiting quite a bit.

If Andrew Toney's son hadn't gone all felony-like, UAB would be loaded. Still, they have more talent than they have since some early Bartow years.

Mike Anderson is a 2,347 times better coach than Mike Davis. He'll do at UAB what he did at IU. Moments of brilliance overshadowed by consistent underperformance.

I tend to agree - he's going to mask it this year with a strong class of transfers, JUCO's and freshmen.

Unfortunately, he just can't bring the dynamism to a program that Anderson brought. UAB needs a guy like Anderson to cut through the clutter and build a fan base. Davis won't be able to do it.

Will Anderson succeed at Mizzou?

Absolutely. Great facility, rabid fan base. Once he clears out the clutter Quinn Snyder left, he'll get the Tigers back where Norm Stewart kept them. A consistent top 20 team and Big XII title contender.
