Vn freedom!

never said anything about message boards being more. sure, watching the season was a factor and made other staffs jobs easier in turning recruits heads, that is pretty logical.

print outs from message baords do something that the print media, radio/TV, the season, and various other medium cannot do.

it produces volume. schools can pull many days and many different people with the same themes. then you add in 10-12 different schools / recruiters (EVERYONE DOES THIS. NOT UNIQUE AS A PROCESS VERSUS TENNESSEE ONLY) showing different people from different sites, then the volume can work to turn someone. that in addition to many other venues..

someone asked for a specific recruit. Xavier Lee was being recruited by Tennessee (Signed with FSU in 2004 class). he specifically said he dropped Tennessee because of how Tennessee fans talked about his perspective coach (Randy Sanders) on message boards. Said the talk was so bad he was concerned Sanders wouldn't be there so he eliminated UT from consideration.

this whole subject is just too logical to dismiss. It is hard for me to imagine any fan not believing that if a coaching staff is under fire and the future is uncertain that it wouldn't have an affect on recruits. I think we all can easily admit the future for CDD is "uncertain" at this point.

Logical!!! Lol these guys with all their insults yesterday won't like that term.

The above was from the Hart interview and he never said he was disgusted with the team.

You are right, he did not use the term 'disgusted'.

"Nobody was more upset than the guy you are looking at," Hart said in an interview with the News Sentinel on Thursday, the first day in which he's sat down with reporters since the end of UT's 5-7 football season.

"That particular performance on that particular day was unacceptable. I'm not going to sugarcoat that. Unacceptable. I'm sure Derek feels the same way, the players feel the same. Unacceptable.

"When I've been around that level of disappointment, I don't talk to the coach for at least 24 hours, sometimes 48 hours. I don't have anything good to say. I can't be encouraging at that moment. I'm feeling what a lot of people are feeling at that moment because it hurts, it's embarrassing. You're human."

If I were an opposing coach, I would show this to recruits before showing them any post from an anonymous individual on a message board.

How on earth do we have any commitments at this point? Kids just don't understand as much as we the fans do!

Probably because Derek Dooley is blowing sunshine up their asses and telling him that he is turning the program around.

If I was an opposing coach I don't think I would show a recruit that Hart remark. I read into that remark as one of that performance was bad for the team and players and we as a university have higher standards and that will not happen again. To me it says we are determined to winning.

What would your plan be?

Fire Dooley; bring in a coach with a record of success. You know, what we did with Majors. Then, of course, we held on to Fulmer after he proved, in Majors's absence, that he could be successful as a head coach at this level.

Not the question. What would you do if you were DD when recruiting student athletes?

I would tell recruits that I have fired Cheney...oh wait, Dooley has not done so.

Your worthless input to this conversation isn't cutting it. You mocked DD for telling recruits he was turning the program around. I am waiting for your great plan for what he should say?

Dooley should say come to UT and you can compete for a position right away. He should then ask them if they have some message board material for him to refute.

Per Larry he is doing that.

So, he should lie to these kids or sell them on false hopes?

You tell me what he should say. You ridiculed the "I am turning around the program" plan. Give us yours????

The fact is you don't have a plan other than your one sided negativity. I would have preferred like you that changes be made on the offensive side but I am intelligent enough to not get stuck on that. Unlike you I can see than this staff is doing a great job of recruiting in spite of all the negative. Will it get fixed I don't know but expecting DD not to tell a recruit he is turning the program around is ignorant.

I don't think CDD is being dishonest about turning the program around. CDD Believes in what he's doing. He's selling it to the kids. That's truth as CDD sees it.

Weather or not his plan will work or be successful is a different mater. I'm hopeful he can do it as it is the fastest way back to the top. I'm leaning toward the "he's not the guy" crowd though. JMO

"I think you do have to be realistic because I think Derek and Cuonzo [Martin] and Dave [Serrano], they are facing rebuilding projects," Hart said. "This is not a magic wand, snap your fingers, it's fixed and let's move down the road. I think part of the success I've witnessed over the years being a part of those programs that have had a lot of success, they had a great foundation, they had resources, they built an expectation of success and confidence within those programs.

"I think this, we're not young anymore in football. We're not young anymore. While it is realistic and it is factual to say that we have fielded an inexperienced team the last year or two, we're not going to field inexperienced teams anymore. Those are the kinds of things you have to sit down, talk about and assess. I have thoroughly enjoyed Derek Dooley. I think Derek Dooley has the skill sets to be a highly successful coach."

The above was from the Hart interview and he never said he was disgusted with the team.

Dave Serrano is a great coach and a proven winner, a type of coach that UT football deserves (Actually saw Coach Serrano at hhgregg a few days ago, thought it was cool). Coach Martin actually did a good job improving Missouri State every year he was there, so he should get couple seasons to show UT what he can do. The Dooley hire is baffling, UT's football program is better than its basketball and baseball programs yet we have the most unproven coach in our athletic department heading one of the highest profile football programs in the country.

The only honest thing Dooley can tell recruits concerns how much playing time they will get.

Another ignorant statement. Maybe you forgot about all the facilities and the best conference in the country spin he could use without telling them anything that you might find an untruth.

He could also tell them about all the pretty girls in Knoxville, the Ride-Along program with the UTPD, having Christmas break free from practice and bowl games...

You are right, he could tell them a lot of things.

Any decent recruiter wouldn't have a hard time selling UT's football program. At this point it is probably easier for Dooley to sell the UT football program (facilities, stadium, history, NFL pipeline), than it is to sell himself and his resume. I respect Dooley because I'm impressed he was able to sell his resume to Mike Hamilton to land this job.

I am right! He could tell them he believes in Tennessee and bringing it back where it belongs!

I could tell a recruit the same and, just like Dooley, I have no track record demonstrating that I am remotely capable of doing so.

I could tell someone to invest in my ideas because I believe that I will make billions, too.

Dooley should never have been hired and he should have been canned a month ago.

You could very easily be correct but if you disagree with DD telling recruits he is turning the program around that is crazy. Expecting him to say otherwise is as ignorant as many of your post in this thread.

Careful, there's a live feed of Volnation set up in a recruit's house right now. What you say next is going to determine whether he comes to Tennessee or not.

Still waiting on you to direct that sarcasm toward Larry! He has silenced everybody else in this thread with that argument.
