why just cause we beat memphis, i am very pround of this team and where it is going. But 1 win vs a top program doesnt qualify us a top 20 team

The Memphis win is part of it. I am ranking on record, and how I think the team is playing, the team played well against Memphis. I am absolutely shocked that Memphis is still ahead of UT in any poll seeing as how they have exactly the same amount of victories against top 25 opponents as we do. The difference being, we have played 3 teams that are currently in the top 20, and we are 1-2 with a drubbing of Memphis. Memphis played two teams that WERE in the top 25, neither of them are still there, and are 1-1. If we were ranked, as we should be, they would also be 1-2 against ranked teams, so how are they top 20 and we are not?

Memphis was ranked higher than us in the pre-season poll and we lost back to back games in front of a national audience(even though it was 2 tough teams). Their are a couple of teams that were left out of the top 25 that are playing well also. Once we pick up a few more W's against the teams we should beat and play like we did against Memphis on the road we'll have no problem making our way back in to the poll. I personally left Tennessee out of my Top 25 this week. Big win versus Memphis but, there are alot of other teams that are just as deserving as Tennessee.

I don't disagree with that statement. We aren't nationally ranked, and I don't feel wronged. Hopefully, that will help to keep the team hungry and not let them get overconfident. There will still be some bumps in the road as the season goes along for this young team. As far as the VolNation poll, you have to remember that this is a Tennessee board. We might be a little biased. :)

That being said, however, I had Tennessee in my Top-25 (but not in the top 20). Although there are other deserving teams, to me, there isn't a whole lot of difference right now in the teams that could be ranked in the #20 to #30 range, including Tennessee. Right now, I feel like Tennessee is probably just as good as Oregon, Notre Dame, Clemson, Nevada, etc. The win vs. Memphis was a good win, so I rewarded them for it and put them in there. (I had them at #25.)

The Vol Nation Top 25 had a unamimous number one team for this first time. I thought Pitt might get a vote or two, but UCLA is definitely deserving.

exactly why i had them behind wichita st., who i think could hang with anyone in the country right now not coached by ben howland.

i agree with whoever thought ok st should be higher, i had them pretty high in my poll.
