Vitello explains why Adidas is better for recruiting

There have been fleeting moments over the last 20 years where for a season or two the Big 10 was probably better (last 2 seasons, maybe at various moments from 2016-2018).
Not sure as conference they have been better. In reality it's two teams, OSU and Michigan*, that can compete nationally and one needs to bend the rules to do so.

Been almost 60 years since another Big 10 school won a national championship, Michigan State in 1966.

Adidas has yet to prove to me they can manufacture apparel I will buy consistently. We'll see. I hope they do make polos and t-shirts I want to wear.
This is my only problem with the deal. I've never looked at Adidas gear as better than Nike's. I'm quality loyal vs. brand loyal.
Seems like Adidas had 100 different shades of orange when we had the partnership before.

I didn't mean they've been better for extended periods of time...just fleeting moments. In 2016 they were probably the best conference. Alabama won the title but the best SEC East team was a 9-4 UF and the second best SEC West team was either LSU or Auburn, who both finished with 8 wins. That year the Big 10 had Penn St, Ohio St, Michigan, and Wisconsin all finish in the top 10.

When there was divisional play, their conference was always really unbalanced (East was always better than the West). During the SEC's period of dominance since the late 2000s, there have been periods where the East was really good and (especially) the West was really good. Having 5 different teams win at least one title during that time instead of 2 speaks to the greater depth, with only one of those 5 winning a single title (Auburn).

I will bet that hoodie and hat have seen a lot of sunshine/UV.
Color matching is always a problem when your main color is extremely distinctive. UF and Clemson have the blue to even or smooth the look out. The orange is not the focus for the eye. We only have white. Officially. So the Orange really matters.

The Wal-Mart UT shirts, mostly Haynes when I look at them, can be way off the reservation with color matching.

He’s worn that hoodie all the time. Pretty sure that’s team exclusive too. There’s a lot of stuff people can argue about when it comes to this Nike vs Adidas stuff, the one thing, one thing that shouldn’t be up for debate is the matching of oranges. Adidas was awful at times. There’s a pic of Da’Rick Rodgers w/ about 5 different shades of orange from his jersey #’s, undershirt , pants Power T on the helmet and shoes. I think we can all just agree that the benefit to Adidas was financial only.

I’m not upset about the switch because our Athletic department and coaches all seem to have a good grasp on what our branding is, and what our players and recruits respond to. Adidas round 1 seemed like Adidas were designing a lot of the uniforms with some input from our Athletic Department. This time around we have a much more aligned AD in what we want from a branding standpoint and much more autonomy when it comes to design. The Nike stuff had gotten stale imo. I’m excited to see what new designs they come up with and new fan apparel.
