I was excited when this game was announced as I've always had attending a game at Neyland on my bucket list. I'm interested in seeing how the experience stacks up against Nebraska (great, gracious fans), Texas (decent fans, fun experience), Mississippi State (great atmosphere but in the middle of nowhere), LSU (terrible game, even more terrible fans), Missouri (in KC, not sure if they even have fans lol), Middle Tennessee (lol).

Looking for suggestions re pregame, traditions, etc. from locals to have a great experience at the game and in Knoxville in general. TIA

PS No I don't drink, No, I won't be bringing a Book of Mormon or wearing a shirt and tie, no I don't have a bunch of wives and yes I know SEC is king.

Well first off enjoy your time in Knoxville beautiful scenery and on a game day it’s spectactular.. but.. I think your visiting at a era in Tennessee football where our fans are beat down and just meh.. it won’t be the same atmosphere as some of those schools and sorry you’re not visiting when it was our era.. but enjoy your visit..

You might be disappointed in the whole Neyland Stadium experience because the attendance maybe an all-time low for a night game. I suggest Calhoun's on the River and Circle Park or Frat Row.

Go ahead and bring your Book Of Mormon. We still respect those we don't agree with in the South. You want to go up to The Circle on gameday. That's where some of the best tailgating is and that's where they usually have some live music playing. Just ask anybody where it is, they will tell you. The Student Center has also been revamped, and lot of game day fans hang out there, right next to the stadium. The traditional Vol Walk happens and you might want to see that. UT Campus is divided into the old and new sections, and if you are a fan of architecture, the old school buildings have a lot more charm and character to them.

I do not post much but I would like to say congratulations on your first visit to Neyland. I have been coming to games for over 30 years. I am not sure what kind of "in game" experience you may have on Saturday. It's hard to tell at this point. Make your way down to the Vol Walk which happens 2 hours and 15 minutes before every game. I would suggest lining up about 30 minutes early to see it well. Stick around and watch the Pride of the Southland Band march to the stadium after the Vol Walk. Make your way up Cumberland Ave. (the strip) at some point and just check it out. The Copper Cellar is located on Cumberland and its a great place to eat. You could also go over and visit the Vol Navy and eat at Calhouns on the river. Maybe that will help you some. Have a great time in Knoxville!

Enjoy the experience. It is something to witness. However, the stadium is better looking on TV than it is in person. Only one side has been renovated and the rest of the stadium is a rust bucket. Many bathrooms still have troughs. Seats are some of the smallest, if not the smallest, in the conference. But it is a great place to go to a game for a bucket list item.

There's a pedestrian area in the center of downtown Knoxville called Market Square with a number of restaurants and shops. It also hosts a farmers market on Saturday mornings.

You'll likely be underwhelmed by it, but the Sunsphere on the old world's fair site is open daily and you can ride the elevator up to the observation level for free.

Hit calhouns early, vol navy and pat summit memorials are all must sees. Youll get alot of beutiful pic of the stadium if you walk in that order. Vol village, vol walk, market square are all cool too. Should be a wonderful experience, according to past visiting fans.....apologies up front for our team though. You guys have a really good chance at willing and it sucks that the atmosphere probably wont be what it should be for a night game, after last week. But at least they will be serving beer.
