if I could get your attention away from all the histeria for a moment.........

I have a chance to visit Knoxville tom. on my through TN, and I wanted some tips.

-anyone know where/if the main apparel stores are open this time of year (I've been told to go to Hounddogs?)

-is the General Neyland statue available to the public to take pictures/can anyone give me some advice on where to find it at the stadium?

any other tips or advice you have would be great, its going to be my first time through the area since I was fairly young

thanks in advance!:td:

Not sure about stores, but Hounddogs is good. The Neyland statue can be viewed easily, but will likely be closed off by a gate. You can still see it through the gate. I don't know if they open the gates during the day or not. If they do, then you can get right up to it. If you walk down Peyton Manning Pass at Phillip Fulmer Way, it sits right inside the stadium there. You can't miss it. Enjoy!

thanks! I'll have to try to find it (I couldn't forgive myself if I skipped it)

Not sure if it will be open tomorrow with school being in recess, but my favorite place for Adidas and other apparel is the new store in the Stadium at Gate 20. If you aren't able to get in there, I would try Sports Season on Kingston Pike or Alumni Hall in West Town Mall!

As far as the Gen. Neyland Statute, I don't think it is open except for Fridays before games and game days, but who knows you may get lucky and it be open. If the gates aren't unlocked you can still get some decent pictures of it.

The Bookstore on campus at the University Center will be open. The Neyland Stadium store will also be open tomorrow...it's at gate 20. The statue is just down from that around gate 15. You can see the statue pretty well, but it's doubtful that the gate will be unlocked... still worth taking a look though!

Just go to the front of the stadium, kneel down, put your hands together, bow your head and say a prayer to God. In this prayer thank him for letting you visit HEAVEN, because where you are at that moment it doesn't get any better than that!

Rocky top bookstore on 17th and cumberland is probably the best store for apparel other than the store at the UC

Ha! Based on your title, I thought maybe you were talking about some homeless guy near the stadium.

Before you spend twice as much as necessary at one of the specialty stores...Try JCPenneys. Depending on how you are going into K'ville, there is one at the East Town Mall (still called that?)...anyway, that is the one we stop @ every trip in...it is generally less crowded than West and well stocked. From there, it is just a quick hop back on the interstate to Neyland...

Gates in front of Neyland statue are only open during Fridays and Saturdays of home game weekends. However you can see it, and could easily fit a camera between the bars to take pics.
