Virginia Tech, Tennessee Ready to Roll In Battle At Bristol

Oh, okay.
It is true that Bristol can call a sell-out when the ticket retailers buy the tickets and all the fans don't repurchase.
But you have to take into account that they have two races a year, every year.
This is a first and possible one time in history event. More than likely, it will be very close to completely filled.
The View won't be great, but everybody will DVR to re-watch. The experience and the atmosphere, that will be what they remember for the rest of their lives.

I've just seen pictures of Bristol where semi trucks are in the infield and they look tiny. I can't imagine trying to watch a football game from that far away.

You see how small the people look from this far back?? It's going to be interesting..

Lol, true.
But brother, some of the best times of my life have involved nothing more than an open field, some good drinks and even better friends. With nothing more to stare at than the occasional passing bovine.
I think they're all going to manage to pull off a really great night regardless of the view.

I can't comprehend this NOT selling out? It's the first major game for both teams. It's been hyped for years, and its a very easy drive for both fanbases.

Let's just say it will hold 160k total.

Considering Neyland is 102,455 and Lane Stadium is 65,000 and both stadiums are almost always at capacity...the 160k expected is less than the amount of fans that show up for just average games.

Also, considering I've been able to get tix at Neyland for like 50 bucks on stubhub to sold out games, and BaB tix are 150 at cheapest...tells you the demand is higher than the supply.

Is this supposed to be the big screen?

Yikes that does look rough. But as others have said, the experience will be unbeatable; the viewing not so much. It really is a once-in-a-lifetime event. That picture is kind of pano'd as well so no way it's that bad.... Hopefully lol.

Was there for the race today and sat 30 rows up in the turn.. Colossus is huge and extremely clear.. If I knew how to post pics where they aren't sideways I would post some

I used to take a friend of mine who loves NASCAR to the Bristol races.
For qualifying, where you could move around a lot, we would purposely move up to the top so we can see over the trailers to watch the cars on the other side.
It's definitely not going to have the view of a football stadium, but the pictures being shown here are panoramic and far exaggerate what the view actually is.

They're still trying to sell tickets, btw...

Yeah VolAllen 25 tickets. I called and bought two more. Oh and sold 8 already. You seriously need to jump on another bandwagon. If you truly believe that all the pictures you posted are actual views your crazy. They are camera views not eye views. Maybe you should actually go there once so you can speak with knowledge versus speculation. I go twice a year and was just there. I can assure you Ive never seen a view like that.

Dude the view is going to suck. Stop kidding yourself.

Ok your right. In my 30+ years of going there for the races Ive had a miserable experience everytime and the view just sux. Oh and I have no idea why they named a 4 sided TV colossus because from my seat it looks like a 32" tv and Im watching it thru my binoculars. Good thing you didnt make the same mistake everyone else made by buying those tickets...:clapping:

Yea...but we're playing Virginia Tech...

Yeah there are no intriguing story lines here at all...

- After several years of mediocrity following the departure of legendary coach Phil Fulmer, Tennessee's Butch Jones has the Vols poised to compete for an SEC title and a spot in the playoff. An early-season matchup against a quality OOC opponent could set the tone for a possible championship run in Knoxville.

- After several disappointing seasons Frank Beamer stepped down as the winningest active coach in D1A. Can Justin Fuente lead the Hokies back to the top of the ACC and return them to national relevance? Will the Hokies extend the nation's second-longest active bowl streak to a 24th year? Can VT actually win one of these marquee OOC matchups?

- Despite being just a few hundred miles apart, the teams have only faced off a total of 8 times in over a century.

- In fact, the only two games in the last 75+ years were a pair of bowl matchups. The Peyton Manning-led Vols took the Hokies behind the woodshed in the 1994 Gator Bowl, dominating VT by a score of 45-23. The Hokies returned the favor with a decisive 37-14 victory in the '09 Peach Bowl, after which Lane Kiffin infamously refused to shake Coach Beamer's hand. Who will break the tie in 2016?

- Oh and there's that whole "biggest crowd to ever see a college football game" thing, and Game Day, and the ridiculousness of a football game at a NASCAR track, the possibility of a 3-day tailgate, etc.

Now that you mention it I can see why no one would want to be a part of it. Glad I'm staying home! [/s]
