Does anybody know how they can continue to let Vinson miss tackle after tackle and stay on the field? I am 57 yrs old and I don't think he could tackle me. He whiffed 4 times in the open field Saturday.

The freshmen were all better than that and yet he was still on the field in the 4th qtr.

Janzen did an awesome job on the kick teams. Vinson needs to sit.

you sure it was Vinson? Didn't watch him close enough but I did see Jackson whiff a few times

IIRC, Janzen is the one that whiffed. I was at the game and couldn't see the numbers. Watched it after I got home Sunday, and it was JJ that got smoked 3 or 4 times. I imagine he will be doing tackling drills all week.

EDIT: Dang you guys are quick to respond. :) Atleast we all saw the same thing!

It was Jackson, but I'm not worried about him over the long haul. He's generally doing the right things. I'd be concerned if he looked like DMo from last season.

Jackson is going to be a hoss for this team.

#15 is lost his jock strap on one play and look like a bird soaring on another...neither play suggested he knew what he was doing on the field.

I agree, BPV. I have complete faith that JJ will rebound. He just received his notice that he isn't tackling high school running backs anymore. Stay square, son, and don't lunge.

What about #84, Chris Walker? Did anyone else ask themselves why they kept running left?

Walker wasn't playing great and lost containment a few times but most importantly let them get around the end a lot. I anticipate Florida will expose this - watch them run to the left the most. Hell, I would if I were them.

Sorry, it was Jackson on the worst, but I saw Vinson miss two pretty badly and thought the others were him, also. I know Monte had to be pissed after watching the film.

If they tackle like that against fla., it will be ugly fast.

I didn't see how the blocking was taking place, but given that UCLA has a couple of hosses at TE, I would imagine that he was getting DT'ed or chipped. I did notice that they would run to the weak side of the formation quite a lot. That is how they got their longer runs.

To make it worse, that was their true freshman at left tackle. I am sure Monte has seen this, and will have it corrected. He is the one on the staff that I have faith in. UT's D has been excellent through 2. Adjustments throughout. 4 FG and a TD, UCLA started with a short field a few times on those. including the TD.

ever watch an NFL horse look silly in the open field? The guy approached from the wrong angle and couldn't force the runner. It happens and becomes guesswork. He guessed wrong.

I watch AP make a whole lot look silly yesterday

I was at the game Saturday, there was alot of missed tackling durning the 3rd quater. The defence was on the field for 10 minutes durning that quater it seemed like. But Vinson did lay a guy out on the kick off return... I would say that EVERY defence player missed 2 tackles each they were all tired.

Eric Berry missed a few too..... Bounced right off Prince when he could have just wrapped him up and slammed him down.

Actually, BigRed, did you happen to notice that Chris spent most of the game fighting off the OL, the TE and being chipped by the RB all at the same time? Yes, I agree, as does Chris, he missed a few, but hard to be real effective when it's 3-on-1. What I expected to happen when Coach Kiffin refered to Chris as being almost "unblockable" in the spring has happened. SOME people expect Chris to be that game after game. Thankfully, Chris took that all in stride. He didn't buy into the hype surrounding Coach Kiffin's comments. It is obvious that UCLA had some element of respect for Chris as they didn't allow their freshman OL to go 1-on-1 with Chris very often. I'm not a football genuis but I think that if I had three guys on ONE player, I would run to that side also.

Sir, I hope that before passing judgment on Chris, you get ALL of the facts. We have a ton of work to do before we can march in the Florida and take on the Gators. I cannot speak for the other members of the football team but I can speak for #84. He's not sitting around feeling sorry for himself for what he did or didn't do Saturday. He was back to work YESTERDAY working to improve his game and working to help his team get better. Chris is VERY realistic about his abilities and knows that there are factors that are not in his favor. I hope that we as fans are not contributing to those factors with our negative comments. I am ALL Vol...win or lose!

GO BIG ORANGE!:)

that was a problem in both of our games. That's as much a linebacker problem as it is line.
