Who do you all think should start. Personally at first I though Vinson because of his natural abilities but when I took a look at Willingham's backround I think maybe he is the better choice. He is big, fast and very physical which is exactly what we need. Hopefully these changes in the secondary will help us. What are all of your thoughts? GO VOLS!!!:)

I personally would have Berry,Vinson,Willingham and McKenzie in the back field.Rotate with Willingham and Vinson with Williams. McKenzie and Berry are speedy, headhunters.Chris Donald if healthy should start seeing time at linebacker,he also is speedy and a head hunter. Before anyone tries to get my head on a platter I also feel that Crompton should start this week and give the (pinky-gate) time to heal some. Also once healed Martin and Jones should see more p.t. these guys are game breakers or at least thats all I've heard from fall practices .

Wow, have you not paid any attention at all to the McKenzie situation. And, Donald is NOWHERE NEAR ready to contribute at LB. I don't care how many stars he had by his name on rivals.

And, we cant start Crompton because with the current state of our defense I do not know if we will beat Ark St without Ainge.

McKenzie has a lot of trouble covering in open space. However, I would not say it is because he does not have enough speed. He is certainly fast. Rather it is his quickness and most importantly instincts and reaction time.

I wish they would go ahead and give Donald a red shirt so those of us from west tn would know why he's not playing, at least on special teams.

Another DB question, is #31 still at corner? if so WHY? he gets burnt every game

I am not Fulmer, but I can go ahead and tell you that Donald will get a redshirt this year. Book it.

And, #31 does not get burnt every game. He is M. Johnson.

We haven't seen Vinson play cb and have barely seen Willingham. This can't be decide by reading there profiles. You actually have to watch them practice and play. It's easy to be a couch coach.

Crack, NO !! but as I see it why not play Cromp, at least he can get the ball down field !!! And as far as McKenzie, he done well at his l.b. slot both games he played.Donald has been hampered with an ankle but is seeing punt coverages in practice. Willingham,Berry,Hefney and Williams will do fine in the back field. YES give Crompton the nod at least he can get the ball down field and WONT hand off backwards !! You could be the one on CRACK !!

Now Hefney is making your backfield? Before it was Berry, Vinson, McKenzie, and Willingham, no? BTW...I think you are nuts.

So you are saying guys should play because they are game breakers yet you have never seen them play? Jones is hurt and has yet to even play and likely won't. I think mcKenzie was moved to OLB.

Agreed on both points.

I'll go out on a limb and say Gerald Jones will be getting a Redshirt as well.

First, Ainge has gone back to handing off with the correct hand this week in practice.

Second, Crompton is nowhere near Ainge right now. Even with Ainge's broken pinky. Its not even close. You are apparently letting emotion take the place of rational judgement in this situation. Don't feel too bad though. That is a common circumstance for many posters on this board.

I like to call it "lack of common sense"

McKenzie just got moved to LB this week so how could he have done well at it the past two weeks?

So why not try him out at safety?? Oh, that right, we need to have Hef out there to lead our defense. Nothing against Hef because he is a good football player, but he has defended ZERO passes this year. So he's out of position just like the rest of our D. Leave people at the position where we recruit them. If you need an OLB, take and OLB not a safety.

Because McKenzie can't cover Fulmer on a fade route.

And McKenzie and Hef don't even play the same safety spot.

And these moves have paid off before. Remember Kevin Burnett? He came in as a safety.

So why don't we switch Berry and Hef then. Hef has had the same success that Parrish has had this year.

Berry is a much better fit at SS. He's a better tackler than Hef. A SS will be asked to come up and stop the run a lot more than a FS. Your main complaint about Hef is tacking right? Than why the hell would you want a better tackler playing further off the ball in Berry?
