competition scares players who have always been the best player on their team then they go to college and can't handle standing on the sidelines. The reality of the workload training and dedication over three to four years to get quality playing time is overwhelming.

You also don't start as many freshmen as we did. These guys saw the writing on the wall early. Sometimes it takes until their 2nd or 3rd year to see it.

Or Butch is more manly & let them know the future they want may not be at UT. After the initial shock of all of todays news, I realize that CBJ is a tough one. This team needs that to compete for championships. Look at what years of lazy players, coaches have done to this program. I support the kick your ass to the top approach. Lord knows nothing is handed to you.

You don't typically lose 8 FR in a season.

No and you don't typically recruit with the likelyhood of early playing time then have even better players committ.

I'm ok with the concern here, I just don't share it myself.

Before social media, people trusted papers the most.
Usually by the time you read about departures,it was accompanied by their replacements. Slow but a lot less nerve racking.

I've thought for a while now that the attrition is due to these kids not getting the playing time they were told they would have a chance to get. Our best recruiting pitch has been immediate playing time for a good while now and I'm sure it's rough being told that and getting here and finding out you're not good enough yet.

Let me be clear I am not saying anything bad about our coaches in any way, they are doing great. I'm just saying I know how these high school Athletes are wired and it's a me first world sadly. I hate to lose anyone, especially when we are bad thin at WR and RB now. I have faith in our guys!

In an article I read recently, the writer indicated that CBJ's next hurdle was how to cope with the Prima Donna. With elite recruiting, you will get PD's. Apparently, Vic is CBJ's first PD. The other players mentioned were essentially recruited over. Going from stud to bench warmer is never easy and as mentioned you will see players transfer from all major programs. As for the rest of VN, this is what happens with good programs with elite recruiting. This is not material necessary for meltdown. We have forgotten what is like to be relevant and the problems that go along with it. Ask Alvin Kamara what is like to be recruited over, transfer out, and make it back to the big time again.

The main concern is that these are highly rated freshmen leaving. Best teams are usually led by upperclassmen and losing freshmen has an impact down the road. Also hate to see TN kids leave because of potential impact on future recruits.

How many non-highly rated freshmen did we take last year? I really can't remember the exact number of two stars we took.

How many FR WR was Vic behind?
How many FR DT was Sawyers behind?

Did you expect Vic to play over North, Pearson, Malone, Pig?

Was Sawyers expected to start over the Williams, Saulsberry, O'Brien?

Just because they weren't FR AA doesn't mean they would never contribute here and if incoming FR are taking spots from previous Butch recruits, I'd question the staff's ability to develop players.

Yesterday: Bama loses a few players and coaches... Kiffen rumored to be leaving... a few commits lose their 5* ranking.

VolNation be like: lolllllzzzzzz! Their dynasty is crumbling before our very eyes! Muuuhahaha

Today: Similar events unfold at Tennessee....

VolNation be like: Nothing to see here folks.. It's normal... happens every year especially to relevant programs. Look at Bama, happens to them every year and they don't miss a beat.

My wife's cousins sister is one of Vic's girlfriends. She said that during practice Butch played loud music that was very offensive. She went on to say that she didn't think Vic would ever get over it and will probably quit the team.😢

You don't usually sign 32 in a class. As a reminder - we can't have 128 on scholarship.

Never said attrition isn't necessary, and when Butch brings in 4 classes of 32 your point would be relevant.

Ideally they'd be spread out over a career so you have experienced SO and JR stepping in, not more FR.
