Governor of Texas is paralyzed and in a wheelchair today because of a similar freak occurrence. He was jogging and a tree limb crashed down and injured his spine.

Moral of the story…it pays to always be vigilant. But even then, we aren’t as in control of our circumstances as we’d like to think. Unexpected accidents happen.

And please spare us from any political chirping. Regardless of your affiliation, at least have some empathy toward others.

Dang I missed it then , I just naturally assumed the moral of the story would be to .. stop jogging 😊

As some one who hikes all the time, I’m more scared by high winds and falling trees/limbs than I am by any critter out there.

Must be more common than folks think as Texas governor Abbott was hit by a falling tree limb while jogging and is in a wheelchair today as a result. Crazy how fragile life is - just out doing the most innocent activities and disaster can strike you down. Helps one keep their own problems in perspective

A woman died in the Smokies a couple of years ago when I branch fell on her while she was hiking with her husband and kids. They call them “widow makers” for a reason

Shallow roots and water saturated ground = falling trees. It happens more often than news broadcasts tell us.
Alternatively, some trees might be getting even with people cutting down their friends and leaving stumps.
And you should know

Speaking of tree limbs, everyone better be careful out there tomorrow the odds may go way up, with the predicted wind levels.

These types of accidents could end in death depending on the size of the tree branch. A woman was killed by a branch here in Dolores Park and the family got a multi-million dollar settlement. I no longer sit under trees in SF and it's not like we ever see the sun with all the fog.
