I was buying some furniture today and saw a tall older gentleman wearing a Josh Dobbs golf tournament polo shirt. Being a big Dobbs fan I went and talked to him, and he told me about Dobbs’ invitational tourney for lettermen that raises money for UT engineering scholarships. As I’m talking to him his wife comes up to me and tells me “my husband is too humble to tell you, but he was the highest drafted wide receiver in Tennessee history, drafted 11th overall in the first round”. I was talking to Anthony Hancock, class of 82. Absolute gentleman, soft spoken and a pleasure to talk to. I thought he deserved a shout out here. And his wife was right, he deserves recognition.

That certainly is a cool story bro. He was one of my favorites when I was a kid.

Outstanding! Cool story bro...

If you go furniture shopping in Antioch, Rod Wilks will deliver the sofa to your house.

Little known fact...

Before the boogie man goes to sleep, he checks under his bed for Rod Wilks.

Wilks won’t deliver the furniture. He will show up at your house and build the furniture of your choosing by hand out of any tree in your yard.

I confess to getting a little help from Google, but I am glad that I did because the receivers from the time period of the 80s +/- brought back some great memories:
Larry Seivers (late 70s)
Stanley Morgan, Anthony Hancock, Willie Gault
Joey Clinkscales, Anthony Morgan, Alvin Harper
Anthony Miller, Tim McGhee
Carl Pickens (early 90s)

Amazing that we were blessed with so many NFL caliber receivers.

Rod delivered a washer-dryer to our house a few years ago. Super nice guy & a VFL. 😎

I love that he is still around. I remember playing missile command against him in the arcade at Shelbourne Towers. Dang that was a long time ago. Pretty quiet then too I recall. 🤣🍊🏈
I use to play a football game at the Shelbourne arcade, but can't remember the name (it had a roller ball that you had to manipulate). That was usually on a Saturday night after spending too much money at Horizon's or Hymie's. A smoked turkey and cheddar usually was included as well............
