Condolences to the families who lost their children.

Prior to this happening the shooter was already on the radar with the authorities and school but yet again nothing was seriously done to follow up on those early reports.

Can we please start taking the mental health collapse of this young generation seriously and get them the help they need to have and that doesn’t entail simply tossing them a bottle of meds.

This country needs more Bolivars and a lot less enabling.

I don't know about nationally but in the state of TN you can't just recommend mental health treatment. The patient has to agree to it.

And btw, that's Western State. Thank you very much.

Old school, it’s Bolivar.

Florida has the Baker Act and I truly believe that it would be a solid foundation for all states to craft something similar to it. The 72 hour mental health evaluation provided by Baker can and does save lives.

Very sad that this continues to be a common event for guns in the USA and outside the USA.

That goes to show live each day to the fullest since that kind of destruction can happen without warning.

UVA dropped the ball on this one in my opinion. This kid has been known about for over a year. Discipline committee (school, student and honors), have taken way too long to make some decisions about his future. He needed help somewhere. Now, many are going to need help. It’s awful on all levels for everyone.

I’m a UT grad, but also a UVA alum. My heart breaks for the families.
