University of Tennessee issues statement on AD search

This released an hour ago from UT basically says that once a search firm is decided on they will combine with the appointed search committee and begin.

Don't think any of this starts untill the new chancellor is here so there's no use being upset about it. No matter what your looking at March being the earliest and maybe June at the latest.

After all of this watch them end up naming Mike Bohn the new AD.
Since that would essentially make us the University of Cincinnati at Knoxville what would we change our team name to?
Volcats or Bearenteers?

I have managed a number of programs on NCAA Football and won multiple championships. I should submit my name in AD search. I'll bring you guys along. Time for some changes

Yeah I'd take half to tell them to hire Blackburn.

Well, since we are offering our services, I'll one up you and do it for free.

Blackburn - UT AD
Fulmer - UTAD ambassador (See UF and Spurrier)
Gilbert - UTC AD (Let him prove he is AD material like they made Blacburn. If he turns it down, tell him to GTFO)

Not only did I fill the UTK AD job, I've utilized the best of Fulmer's skills and I've filled the UTC vacancy.

They could pay me $300,000 and I would have Blackburn as AD and Fulmer assistant AD for football.

Yes! Haha. Not sure why this is so hard. Fulmer would be great aassociate AD. Can't see him turning it down Seems very weird to try to bring in Blackburn in to learn from a guy with no eexperience to be permanent AD.

Hope the mods won't merge/bury this in the other PF/AD threads. Think it might be good for fans to read this one as I think the author is correct on many points.

The UT Athletic Director Fiasco — What We Should Be Asking

LINK

Agree with most of the article, except when she says Fulmer and Blackburn have equal chance to fail... Blackburn clearly has less chance since he is current AD and successful one at that. Could both succeed/fail sure, but less chance of Blackburn... more likely just administration messing it up for whoever they hire than the AD themselves messing it up on their own by lack of support.

I haven't seen it mentioned on here yet, but perhaps it has already been discussed in one of the many threads on the AD. I have seen where David Blackburn is the fan favorite and perhaps Phillip Fulmer a close second. Any thoughts on Kansas State Athletic Director, John Currie, who was former associate athletic director at Tennessee?

I live in an area that covers K-State athletics, and people seem to really be happy with Currie. Reports on the KC sports talk radio say he has been an excellent fundraiser for the program which resulted in upgrades and expansion on their football stadium. He is also operating the K-State athletic department on a surplus. I have heard him speak at engagements around town and on TV here. I have a high opinion of him. The downside to Currie is that he has not yet had to make an important hire for the football program, but that could be coming shortly.

On a side note, there are new rumors (in before "a rumor?") swirling here that Bill Snyder is probably going to step away from the program in February after signing day and they will have an interim head coach until after next season. So Currie could get to make that hire very soon. K-State botched it the last time Snyder "retired" by hiring Ron Prince.

I really believe UT knows who their going to hire or have already completed the hire.......Blackburn/Fulmer
Hart leaving, so and so gone to Bama, so and so to So. Miss...These individuals wouldn't leave if they had a shot...

This is turning into a fiasco! UT should hire fulmer or go national and hire someone like alabama did with years of experience and a great resume.

Sheep, our chancellor isn't even in place til Feb 15th and she was just hired recently. Can't hire a subordinate until you have the ordinate.

She was approved December 15th and to not be in place til Feb 15th and know Hart and Cheek were leaving well in advance does make it a fiasco.

Now they may end up making a good hire we will see, but to act like appear to be organized and prepared is ridiculous imo.

Taking two months for a chancellor to get in place is ridiculous in itself.

They didn't "allow" anything. The pronouns were written in a newsletter put out by the office of diversity, and while silly, were only suggestions and were not a mandate or binding in anyway. No need to be disingenuous and spin it like it was it was some kind of campus wide effort that they attempted to make mandatory across the University.

I'm not spinning anything:

UT Knoxville encourages students to use ‘gender-neutral pronouns’ | WATE 6 On Your Side

That is freaking embarrassing!

That is a old article from 2015, that department no longer exist and I for one can tell you students are NOT using that. So in fact you are spinning a old article as fact. GBO!!!!

Read my original post as I stated when they "allowed" it. So quoting an old article was appropriate because that's when it happened.
