Obviously it's still early, but he did the right thing in getting rid of Myles. Had to be done.

He did a good job keeping a handle on the situation and I was impressed with his press conference. Calm, but stern. Fair, but tough. That's what you want from your coach.

As of right now, Coach Dooley did a very good job in managing a potential crisis. Let's just say that in my mind, that press conference earned some points with me in terms of him being able to handle the UT job. You are going to get this at UT. It's bound to happen. He managed it well. Good job Coach.

I think he handled this situation beautifully. Keep in mind, he probably scripted this whole thing out in his head before it even happened. "Ok. So if such and such happens. How am I going to handle it?" They guy is very intelligent. He knows what he is doing and he knows what he wants to build. It is just going to take time. It may take five years. Who cares! If it takes five years it takes five years. rebuilding a solid foundation takes time. I believe he will continue to sign solid recruiting classes. The best part about him is his potential and the fact that he wants to be here and sees UT as a destination job. Good Job Coach! Keep up the good work and I hope it all translates onto the field come September 4th!

Dooley still has a bunch of trash to deal with.
How does he convince 15 players to stay away from a bar at 2 am?
Voluntary drills at 6 am. If they don't show up they don't play.
He needs to get rid of the gangsta mentality that the thugs that have permeated our team exhibit.

If they came here to play football and you tell them that if they don't show up to a voluntary assignment that they will lose their right to play football that makes it mandatory.

He did give him a second chance when he was arrested after the O&W game and he blew that second chance. Darren Myles has nobody to blame but Darren Myles.

I said in another thread that Dooley should suspend them all awhile just for being fools.

Maybe that legal background will help him sort through some of this mess. He probably pulled more out of talking to the players than we know. I would imagine he has a better feel for what happened than even the police do at this point.

Dooley did well in this situation but I think he has some unfinished business to take of.

I'm not up for referring to anybody as "trash," but I will agree there is much, much work to be done in the character department at UT. Fulmer let the program degrade into a cesspool over many years, and no coach can be expected to change the culture overnight. CDD is obviously trying, and I give him high marks for that. If he can coach on the field, we could have a great coach for many years. I am willing to give him the chance.

I will say this. His swift action yesterday did nothing but help the image of the University of Tennessee yesterday. Go read the reactions across the web.

No, he had his chance even without a suspension the last time. CDD is laying the foundation of this crap does not go here, period. When the players start really getting involved in monitoring their own, things will start to change. Where is Al Wilson when we need him.

Sounds like Tom Coughlin when he would call 6:30 meetings and if you didn't show up by 6:25 you were late.
