I'm glad he didn't bring in the washed up has been assistant to Chip Kelly...honestly...

The offense was more than fine this year and at times unstoppable. I agree with building on that, not tearing it down, by starting all over.

Sounds like Scott kinda brought lots to the table offensively this past season we don't know about...

He was never headed to college football.

I like it as well, I hope Scott gets autonomy and is not restricted by Butch Jones offensive philosophy

Honestly, y'all Butch haters and your sarcasm are getting SOOOO tiresome. He is making changes and improvements. We are WAAAAY better than the dumpster fire he inherited. Academics and # of arrests are improving. Your persistent **tching and moaning has been noticed by recruits, and is likely driving some away... but you will likely brush that off and try to push your share of the blame somewhere else... then complain about the talent gap!
I'm bummed about no East Div Championship and the eggs laid with SC and Vandy too... but the reasons for those disappointments are a lot more complicated than just CBJ. Players for one, 18 to 22 yr olds. Injuries and related adjustments with 2nd and 3rd team players who are just not ready. No five consecutive top-10 classes to build the roster. Some of it we may never know.
Since you want to complain about him not being a miracle worker, well step on up and apply for the job. Let those who have never had anything to learn in your job cast the first stone. Sheesh. Get some perspective.

Welcome to Volnation. Please post more, alot more.

...then why didn't Miami hire him? I think Scott pitched for the job and Jones elected to give him the position rather than lose him. We could have done better, I'll put it that way.

you have to understand he was under AL GOLDEN staff so it was up to MARK RICHT to hire him..Richt wanted him back because of the relationship he had with the players..

Im happy for Scott..Big cane fan got a chance to see him groom great TE'S that's in the NFL..Did a great job when AL Golden sorry ass got fired..he went 4-1 as a interim coach..brought the guys together and honestly I think he is a better head coach than BUTCH JONES

I'm excited for Scott, I think this is hire will set Butch up for several more years or be the nail in the coffin. A lot of people are pleased with the offense this past year and it was excellent part of the time, on the other hand it was non existent when it was needed most against USC and Vandy in the second half. Butch can help Scott a lot if he hires a top notch O line coach, I don't believe Wells will be an improvement a lot like our S and C assistant was not a good choice for that position.

It was not the home run hire I was wanting, but Scott may be a blessing in disguise. I know it is questionable making the guy OC at Tennessee with no experience calling plays at the collegiate level, but Scott seemed very excited and determined to succeed. I really like having guys who are optimistic and appreciative to be here and realize how truly special it is at Tennessee.

I also like how he mentioned molding the offense to the playmakers we have on the roster and changing the offensive scheme according to who we are playing. I'd like us to be less predictable and be very explosive. I want us to step on the opposing defense's throat, keep them guessing, and do not let up. No more conservative play calling or vanilla offense. Overall, it may improve our offense on the field because Scott is trying to make a name for himself and not simply follow script. He needs to succeed as Tennessee's OC if he wants his dreams of becoming a head coach come true.

Butch has said the same thing many times before, and we see how true that's been
