Velus Jones to the Bears, pick #71, 3rd round!

Interesting pick for a team that did a great job developing CP. The 2 players are more similar than some might think. Will they try to use him in a role Akin to how CP are Deebo Samuel get used as a hybrid wr/rb?
CP is one of the best athletes in NFL history. Jones is solid but not even in the same ball park. And he's old

Was really hoping Velus would have been there two spots later for the Colts.

Would have a much better career start with a seasoned QB like Ryan than Justin 'me first' Fields. Also the Colts new WR coach is none other than Reggie Wayne. Lastly, strong talk that TY Hilton comes back for a swan song.

The treasure trove of knowledge and experience would have given Velus an incredible start... hopefully it still works out and Velus has a long and fruitful career.
Not sure why you think Justin Fields is a "me first" type of guy? If it's because he transferred from UGA because Kirby is an idiot and didn't start him over Fromm then you have to call Burrow a "me first" guy too.

Nothing to do with the transfer specifically.
Guy just seemed like a 'me first' type person from high school up through his time at Ohio State.
Just his mannerisms and way he plays the game, to me, doesn't seem like he is all in it for the team and cares too much about personal achievement.

That said, those are my impressions from seeing him on a TV show from his high school days and the few games / interviews I have seen while he was at OSU.
Totally get people grow, evolve, and change...

25 is not OLD... maybe if he was RB that had 300 carries a season on him.. but realistically Velus is a low mileage slot/returner. Yes CP is a crazy quick-twitch athlete...but he never learned to run anything but the most basic routes in 3 years of college and 10 in the NFL. Pure talent can only take you so far in the NFL where yeah, he was a specimen... but in the NFL he's only a bit better than the next guy that's working twice as hard and knows the game.

Peyton Manning and Tom Brady ...neither of them were physical specimens at their positions in fact both were only average to slightly above average in physical measurables. This is why Ryan Leaf was looked at as a better prospect by a lot of pundits over Peyton and Brady was drafted 199th. For every woulda been coulda been physical specimen that was a flash in the pan in the NFL, I can name you 20 Hall of Famers that no one saw coming. Being dedicated to craft in the NFL is a huge commodity. Those guys stick around for 10+ years
