I'm astounded by what CJP has done with the portal and his recruiting compared with his results. There is no team in the nation that does not now utilize the transfer portal. CJP has utilized it more effectively than most coaches. The portal does not even speak to Smith coming back. I've seen Smith go in the top ten in mock drafts. I've never seen the progression at UT like I'm seeing now since the late 90s. And while most of you don't like it, I'm blunt. CJP should win ten games next year. There is no reason with this stuff he should not.

Putting my orange-colored glasses aside for one second. I think next year is the most interesting year in SEC history. Name me one team you'd bet your mortgage on. Jimbo is entering the third year of a $75 million contract. What if he doesn't win the west next year? Could you imagine if we paid CJP that, and he didn't win the east? Mullen has accomplished squat at Florida. HE's also accomplished squat when we were at our lowest and FSU was at theirs. That's ending. And Kirby. What has Kirby done? He has beat our butts, sure. Not going to talk smack to UGA fans. But he has to play to AL and AU next year.

It's all coming together.

Put down the gasoline can before you hurt somebody.

Three of the four starting QBs in the 2020 NCAA playoffs came to their team via the transfer portal. Not to take anything away from UT's players, but none of Pruitt's signed transfers have come close to having that kind of impact. Cade Mays is a great OL, though.

I am not sure what you consider squat to be, but Dan Mullen has won 21 games in two seasons since becoming FL's HC. He's also had two blowout wins over UT.

Good point about next year in the SEC. Everyone has question marks, including the defending champs of each division. It looks like a good opportunity to make a move up the SEC standings. My gut tells me Florida will move to the top spot in the East, but with better QB play and maybe a couple of breaks it could also be us. My biggest concern with Georgia is their defense. They've got a great group of players returning on that side of the ball.

The key is beating UF this, in fact it is a must mainly because we have them at home this year with 100,000 plus in high mode... We win that game and confidence will be at an all time high. Even if we drop the bama or UGA game we are still in play to actually win the east, although i do believe the UGA game is winnable as well, but the key is Fla.

Pruitt has done a poor job with grad transfers. He hit .333, Kennedy a winner, the other two, QB from Stanford and RB from Mich St, contributed very little and didnt progress toward a degree which eliminated TN from getting any for 2019. Meanwhile some of our opponents are rebuilding quickly getting all conference type guys.

Quick question: Do these players count against the 25 player per year recruiting limit? If so, how does the NCAA justify that? Velus has one year to go and Mays has 2. So, we're forced to use 2 of 25 slots for them?

What happens if, say, 10 players transfer out and only 5 transfer in? Over time, if teams are forced to only take 25 including transfers, it wouldn't take long for some to be severely undermanned, no?

If they simply count against the 85 scholarship limit, it would make more sense.

And those two (QB and RB) came in that first class out of absolute necessity and on short notice after Pruitt took the job. Context is important, especially after butch had this program at the bottom of the dumpster when he took over.

As good as the 2020 season will be, the 2021 will be spectacular. Beware the team dressed in Big Orange.

GO VOLS!!!

That's my take too. I think we're either 8-4 regular schedule or by stealing one from the SooBamGatoDogs, 9-3. Sure, it's possible an improbable set of circumstances could see us go 10-2 but highly unlikely. Love the guy but our QB is JG, that's as high as we go. Unless he takes full advantage of the much improved OL. However, despite the Bailey hypers, I still say if Hill is our QB we can be 10-2 or 11-1. I just got a sneaky and an Adamantium feeling about this guy. I think his poor showing at Maryland is due to a leaky OL and barely adequate WRs. He can run and as a big body be harder to bring down. Kind of Tim Tebowish or Cam Newtonish. Go ahead laugh, mock, and whatever else. Time will tell. Of course, the six B52 Cocktails might be yelling too loud so early in the day.

Does he have one ring? Dan Mullen came at a time when two of his three biggest rivals were at their lowest points. He has not been able to capitalize on any of it. Now you can cast me in whatever direction you want, but I'm not a homer. The road is tougher sledding for Mullen going forward. As I have said to our resident Gates, I watched three games last year that Mullen coached. In each game, they had questionable play calling, bad penalties, and silly turnovers.

Would you really care if you had a coach who won 42 games in four years and didn't have an SECe appearance? That's where Mullen is heading.

If Hill is the best quarterback on the roster, I am confident that he will get the opportunity to play. But to beat two of the four powerhouses on the schedule, he'd have to make a quantum leap from what he was before. All of those teams are going to have a top-to-bottom roster better than ours, unless we have multiple players step up massively or some new guys transform the team. Honestly, it will probably take both to happen.

Can't say I disagree with you. It's just this absurd feeling I got about Hill. And again, it just might be the six B52 cocktails talking. Shoulda stayed in bed.

I understand but taking TWO guys who had no intention of getting a masters put you behind the others in SEC yet more. I’m not sure what purpose taking the RB served.

You lost me at “Mullen has accomplished squat at Florida”.
Get a clue - Mullen has chalked up back to back double digit wins in his first two years, the second with a backup QB.

And that resulted in 0 SEC CG's and 0 playoff appearances. In the SEC that is considered squat

If Pruitt had the same wins as Mullen after year 2 would you say he has accomplished squat? I wouldn’t . I would be touting us as a CFP team next year, which unfortunately I think the Gators really could be.
