Vegas favorites for the new head coach

I would love to get him but honestly I think he is more impossible of a hire then chip kelly

Really, why? We can certainly pay him a lot more than he makes now and he can save his alma mater. Plus, even if he flames out the NFL will give him another shot.

Because he will be a head coach in the NFL next year .... PROMISE

Not sure about that. It's worth a call IMO. I actually think with a strong staff around him this could actually be a good hire. Certainly better than the next mid-major guy from the mid-west.

He may be a decent coach, but I am not sure VoLNation is in the mood right now to consider a guy who has coached mostly in the MAC and has a catchy "Row The Boat" slogan to boot.

I like PJ I just think he needs more time as a head coach before I would be willing to spend that money on a unproven HC

My only worry is his ability to recruit

I considered that, but I'm sure Peyton will assist him when needed and the fact that he's been an OC in the NFL and can sell kids that he knows what it takes to get them there should be effective as that is all they care about anyway.

Isn't he like Butch on steroids with the cliche crap?

Unlike Butch, Fleck actually built a program. Butch has simply taken over a solid foundation job after job until Tennessee. Sadly, he isn't capable of taking it to the next level.

To many one season super coaches flame out for me to take that chance

I didn't mean anything about his coaching. The cliches though...I'm going to have to watch everything on mute for a while.

Of the names on that list... that would be by far the stupidest hire. He was fired at LSU for basically being a slightly better version of Jones.

You mean the same LSU coach who had more players drafted to the NFL in one year than Butch’s entire coaching career? I agree that Miles (like Butch) made bad coordinator hires but at least he did seem to get more out his talent.

The first person I would still attempt to go after would be Peterson, make him say no to a great offer. I would feel out all the top candidates and would make them turn down top offers. You don't know if you don't ask. Stoops, Shaw, Kelly,Patterson,Mullen,Gundy even Gruden privately just to feel them out. You have to swing for the fence if you want to hit a homer. You have to let the world know you are serious. Tennessee is a long hibernating sleeping giant if the powers that be could see the forest for the trees. Please for the love of humanity, Manning go throw your muscle and talk some sense into some of these big wigs that are holding us down from glory. They have the keys let us turn the engine on!!!! GBO!!!!

They similar because both coaches out talented and out lucked there opponents . Rarely did Les actually out coach anyone

If Miles ego would allow him to hire a great O-coordinator and leave him alone he would be my top choice. He would be a monster in recruiting at Tennessee, I have no doubt his teams would be good at the LOS. If it didn't work out we would still be no doubt full of talent. I think Les is hungry to prove the critics wrong and he would love to stick it too LSU and he could if he has learned from his mistakes. We could make worse moves, and the part I like is it has huge upside and if it doesn't work the cupboard is more than likely full of talent. I would interview him just to hear his thoughts. GBO!!!!

IF we can hire Kelly, and thats a BIG if, we should jump all over it. But I seriously doubt thats even probable.

If the Vols hire Chip Kelly, the rest of the SEC is in big trouble.

At least by year 2 the East would be Tennessee's for as long as he is at Tennessee (win it more times than not).

Tennessee will be able to beat west teams at least by year 2.

Tennessee will not lose to Vandy, KY, SC, or MO

Tennessee will make the playoffs at some point.

He has been very open about how much he hates all the crap that goes along with being a college Head Coach.

What?? This was from earlier this year.

"The San Francisco 49ers fired Kelly on Sunday after a 2-14 campaign. He told Fox Sports’ Bruce Feldman on Tuesday that he would be open to returning to college football.

“I evaluate all jobs individually,” he said. “I wouldn’t rule anything out.”

Asked why he hadn’t considered a college job before signing with San Francisco, he said the timing wasn’t right.

“I’ve never said I’m only looking at one thing,” Kelly said. “I will never leave my team when there are games left in the season, so I never looked at college because all those jobs are filled while NFL season is still going on.”

This is just him saying that he would coach a team of powder puff high school girls in Iceland if the price were right.

UT should call him tomorrow and offer him Jimbo Fisher or top five money to coach the Vols.

Yes, he will coach again at a job he thinks is right, no matter the level.

As for his NCAA stuff, it was so minor that Oregon tried to re-hire him last season while he was still coaching the 49ers. He turned them down.

The fact he didn't return to college after his Eagles stunt shows me he's not interested in college anymore
