First off, I'm not using Vandy's court setup as an excuse...but seriously the commentators brought it up so many times...the players couldn't even hear Pearl's plan of not fouling with a minute left...and its not just tennessee that has trouble with that court, its everyone.

I honestly think there should be regulations against that court setup. I can understand home court advantage. But this ridiculous.

I think they should have to sit on the baseline everywhere if they're going to do it at home.

There's plenty of room on the sideline, I don't understand why the bench is not where it's suppose to be.

its an advantage for Vandy. Thats the way it was setup. Vandy is used to it. They practice with it, our guys are looking at the other end of the court for play calls

Here's my question. Is there one of those lines for the coaches on Vandy's floor? If so, does it even matter? If the NCAA is going to enforce that line rule, then every team should sit in the same place no matter the gym.

It is a bit odd that Vandy is the only team in the country that uses the baseline for benches.

It does create a considerable home-court advantage...I'm surprised that some small school somewhere hasn't modeled its gym after Memorial.

Its the dumbest layout in the world memorial is a nice gym and all but the court itself sucks

and don't forget...the shot clock isn't even on the top of the back board. I think they created this gym with one thing in mind: to create a huge disadvantage for the opponent.

Seems it would work against you on the road. The place is old. I doubt anyone would do this again.

I love Vandy's court. It's a genius move by someone and it's paying off incredibly well.

They can't take the court to the NCAA tourney. They should enjoy the first weekend because I doubt they see the second.

What I don't get is why everyone is talking about the design of it. To me it looks like the obvious place for the benches is on the sidelines where ALL OF THE EMPTY SPACE IS!

that is what we are saying. It makes no sense to have the benches on the baseline.

The only reason I can think of is because the sideline seats are actually below the court and it would be hard for the first several rows to see the game. That is all I can think of.

That's where they are supposed to be.

It does provide a genuine home-court advantage, and it's very much obvious it does. I applaud their smarts in making it as such.

But I think the NCAA (or SEC?) should mandate consistency in court design. This is an obvious advantage/dis-advantage that I am very much surprised has been allowed to go on for as long as it has...

They did have a coaches box line and I'm sure they enforce it. But if the coaches are that close to the action what good does a coaches box do? The empty space on the sidelines drives me absolutely nuts, it looks so wrong.
