Yes growing up in East Tennessee in the 70s I had very few contacts with hispanic people . Then when I went to San Antonio Tx for basic I had never seen so many Hispanic people. My first permanent duty station my best buddy to this day Henry Amador was from Honduras . I even went to Miami to see his family. Being Cherokee lots of people sometimes mistake me for Hispanic. I love the Hispanic culture they believe in a close familia! One of our assistants where I work is Hispanic. I always try to include the word “mucho” when speaking with her. It means a lot to her.
