Vandy is better than TN

Have they assembled this team on good high school recruiting or do they have a Mark Cuban ?
They have the oldest team in the conference I believe and they also have used the portal some. Not highly rated players but they’re very experienced and play well as a team.

We can only beat who we play, but if we don’t beat Vandy, we’ll have zero wins against good teams. All of our wins are against sub .500 teams. Going 8-4 while losing every game vs decent opponents would be difficult to call a successful season.

If Vandy does beat us Vandy likely moves up to the 10. Has anyone else played 4 top 10 teams this season? Losing 3 at home would disappointing to say the least. Could have beaten both UGA and Oklahoma, hopefully UT can win this last game and finish in the top 15. Beat Vandy and we could play Michigan or USC in a bowl game. That would at least be a fun bowl game. And Virginia in front of us in the poll is laughable.

Vandy needs other teams to lose to get into the top 10. And landing at # 10 will not have them making the playoffs, unless the committee gives them a hall pass.

With all respect to George Cafego, I can’t say I mind Vandy being decent. We've been deprived of an in-state rival all these years. They could have been the Ok State to our Oklahoma, the Sparty to our Michigan, if only they had been halfway decent for some significant stretch of the 20th century.

Hope our boys put them in their place Saturday, though.

Call me crazy but I feel better about this game than I did FL. I think if we play clean ball we can win this one by multiple possessions. It’s just Vandy. We are more talented by far. Execute and we win.

Fun fact: For the first time in history we could end the season with Tennessee, Vandy, and Memphis all winning 10 games.

Kind of like Texas A&M, except they somehow had an SEC schedule that avoided Bama, UGA, UT, Ole Miss, and Oklahoma.

Sorry to say it, but this may be the year of the star of v. They've got everything to play for and some good players. We've had some tough breaks and are figuring the nil landscape out a bit and still at the tail end of rebuilding our roster. Hope I'm wrong.

I think it’s laughable that so many posters complain that we only beat poor teams after suffering through at least 15 years of subpar Volunteer teams. Do you really believe that the gumps or the gatas care what quality we were?
Yes, we also lost to three high grade probable CFP bound teams but it doesn’t mean you don’t recognize where UT has risen to. If we keep climbing, all of them will start looking weak. That’s success in my book.
Always a Volunteer!
