Vandy close to making huge instate push

If Franklin is the real deal and can walk the walk, he'll be gone before any of these kids reach their senior year.

Maybe. Maybe not.

Not many colleges other than Ohio State, or Miami are located in cities larger than a million that have pro teams and actual places for the wife to spend money at.

If the wife settles in and she has the option of staying in Nashville and living in either Belle Meade or Brentwood or moving to some small hick town in Alabama when Auburns coach gets let go due to cheating I'd put money on the wife syaing hell no we're staying.

That is, as long as Vandy invest in growing the football team.

Coaching vandy is like coaching the clippers. Sure its in a nice city but the commitment to winning is never going to be at a national championship level.

This, imo, kind of shows how down and sad our situation is, more so than how good Vandy's is.

My Oh My... what an 8 win season will cure...

I am not going to list in detail... but we will win ALL of our non confrence games... we will as 99% of the time beat UK, & Vandy. That IMO is 6 in hand barring disasters and not showing up.

I don't care who says what.... but there is no reason to believe Florida will be world beaters under a new scheme.... Aaron Murray is not a god and UGA's defense last year was awful.... so why are they going to do anything special? We play an LSU team that well, honestly are they any better than last year when we should have beat them? I honestly have only hung my hat on us losing @ Arkansas and @ Alabama.

So is 8 Wins really that far away? Are we really down... or is just the thing to say that makes you feel better because of 3 years of average football....

Even if we are down... is anybody in the SEC East honestly that much better right now? Seriously? I give a slight edge to S. Carolina only because they return a lot of the pieces from last year and have a decent Defense back this year with a good D line.

Just honestly tell me why we should not hit 8 wins... and what it would do to comments like this one above I am responding to!!!

Franklin is doing a good job of getting a top-25 class assembled before the 'Dore-mats start the season. We'll see how these "commitments" turn out after another losing season.

Well, I am impressed with the work Vandy has done during the last month. But it is just one month. Decades of pathetic football won't be erased by merely one month of strong recruiting. I think we will just have to wait until Feb to see who is left standing at that point.

You forgot about Georgia Tech, USC, and UCLA. Probably more, but that's just off the top of my head.

I see your point though.....

So last year CDD takes several early commitments and people complain, this year he's being patient and selective and people complain. I'm guessing it's the same people. If the goal was to get a bunch of early commitments from 2-3 star players CDD could fill the boat quickly. Vandy will take a commitment from anyone half way decent. Their problem will be keeping them if they happen to blow up between now and signing day.

This being true or not, got to respect what Franklin is doing there right now. Never has Vanderbilt had this much momentum with a bunch of respectable SEC talent.

Tennessee will always have the advantage, but I feel like the gap might close a little if Franklin continues to build the program the way he is.

Plus Texas, Baylor, Houston, Washington, Arizona, Arizona State, Pitt, along with multiple others are all in similar or larger cities than Nashville. Don't think its much a consideration at all for a coach.

I wonder if the timing of this is purposefully before our July camps. Seems like that's when a bunch of commitments are anticipated to come.

Not second guessing DD but why can Franklin come right in and get commits and DD struggles early on in the recruiting process? Not saying Vandy will get these commits when its all said and done but one has to wonder.
Franklin might be pulling a Bruce Pearl to get them there but the loses will still keep adding up.Vandy will still be Vandy with or without these commits.
I know recruits are probably waiting on to see what happens with the AA before they commit but one still has to wonder if thats the real reason or if thats the excuse we all like to use.

Makin fun of Vandy? I would never. I'm close enough for one of those nerds to come to my place and beat me up.

I'm the one that's been trying to warn you people Vandy is on the rise.

No one living is old enough to remember this, AND those who have heard it before may have forgotten it. Check out this paragraph. If you want the whole article go to the link provided.

"General Robert Neyland was the architect responisble for building the University of Tennessee football program. Hired in 1926 with the sole task to "beat Vanderbilt", General Neyland transformed the fledgling Tennessee football program into the winning organization rich with tradition that Vol fans enjoy today".

Not sure how much you know about nashville but it is comprised of Davidson, Sumner, Williamson, Wilson, and Robertson.

It's almost 2 million.

That is the metro area, not Nashville proper. I have an interest in maps, demographics, population. Only reason I said anything.
