Has anyone suggested this yet?

If the SEC picks up Mizzou, we could take Auburn and Alabama in the East. Iron bowl stays. Third Saturday in October stays. We get Vandy as our annual rivalry game.

The only downside is you take the SEC East and make it a murderer's row. I guess that's a downside from a certain perspective. Not really.

Just a thought. I mean, Vandy's west of both Alabama schools. Let's kick those nogoodnicks over to the SECW.

Yes, it's been suggested on the board.

The East would simply be trying to determine who would be playing LSU in the SECCG every year.

UT, Auburn, Alabama, Georgia, and Florida in the same division? Not a chance. I would never support that unless there was a playoff system in college football.

I had actually read a rumor (don't post rumors very often) that the alternative that the schools like alabama were presenting was a vanderbilt to the west and ole miss & miss state to the east

(again though, just a rumor)

I would sure hate to lose a sure SEC win every year.

Well, in my scenario, we still play Vandy every year in the same way that we play Bama every year currently.

The main differences from our perspective would be (1) that we play Auburn every year instead of Mizzou (assuming they would otherwise join the east), and (2) Alabama would be vying for the East's spot in the SECCCG instead of Vandy.

The second one seems way more significant, except you probably need to be able to beat Bama if you want to win a conference title anyway.

The good thing for us is we would only have to beat them once if they are in our division. Otherwise, we may end up having to beat them twice to win a conference championship.

Interesting. Theoretically, it could be harder to get to the SECCG, but easier to win it. On average, of course.

FWIW, the only change for us would be that we play Auburn every year.

IMO

They should just stick MIZZOU in the east. I know geographically it doesn't make sense. However, in all likelihood this will just be temporary as all indications are we will be going to a 16 team "pod" system within a few years. In the meantime they can just add a conference game for all and TAMU and MIZZOU can have an annual meeting. Remember, it's just a temp fix.

You mean except for the year we have to play LSU and A&M as our rotating cross divisional games.

Our SEC games would be:
Florida
Georgia
LSU
Bama
Auburn
Texas A&M
South Carolina
Kentucky
Vandy

Hope its not one of the years we play Ohio State, Nebraska, or Oklahoma.
