Vanderbilt talking and targeting national title in football

How the heck was Tech favored by 2.5.

I had Va Tech winning as well. They looked like an improving program last year. Frankly, Vandy is beating them worse than South Carolina.

I am thinking a lot of teams are having lag after their week 1 matchups.

Virginia Tech has been in a downward slide the last few years. Im not too surprised that they lost, but probably not by 24 points to Vandy.

I noticed that too. I have hypothesized that VT has been on a downward trajectory since Michael Vick got drafted by the Falcons. The slide picked up speed when Frank Beamer retired. VT went into a nosedive after they lost to Butch Jones. Losing to Vandy is the fiery crash?

I think I’m done editing. That looks ready to print. 😆

And for some reason, there's a lot of people wanting to add Va Tech if the SEC expands again. Getting beat by Vandy should be an immediate disqualification for joining the SEC for at least a couple of decades.

They fell back a little bit after Vick was drafted but then they had some really nice seasons again from 2004-2011. Was never a national title contender, but a consistent top 20 and occasionally top 10 team.

Other than the first 2 years under Fuente, which were kind of a fakeout, they haven't had a team that got your attention in over a decade (and as you said, one of those good Fuente teams they had got smoked by Butch, so how good really were they?). They actually started regressing under Beamer, not after he retired.

Barring a pretty big turnaround this season, Pry looks like a dead man walking. His buyout is pretty manageable ($6 million).

Jiminy what is in the water in Nashville

“I feel like it’s a nice rivalry,” Matthews said during a Vanderbilt media availability on Tuesday. “It’s deep and rich, and I feel like I embrace the fact that I’m on the other side of it. And now I’m on the winning side of it.”

The winning side of it? What math classes did he attend? Evidently he thinks 32 is greater than 81.
