vandy is def doing better in recruiting and on the field

Recruiting: Better than....the Vandy of the past? Well, I suppose they only had one direction to go....up.

On the field: Everyone they "gave a good game" to....they lost to. Same Vanderbilt.

I'm talking about Hugh Freeze at Ole Miss.

Although I also think Franklin is doing a good job at Vanderbilt. I know, I'm an idiot.

I applaud him for winning at arky state... But winning at arky state and winning in the SEC at a school like Ole Miss are two different things. I do think he makes them better though, but that's not saying much.. It's hard to get any worse.

HS isn't the only one that has been very complimentary of Freeze. I have read a lot of positive post on here about him.

All he does is win, is a great recruiter, and just had the best season in Arkansas State's BCS history in his first year as HC, second in the program with the first being the OC. Bruce Feldman's book "Meat Market" was very complimentary of his recruiting ability and that he was the under-the-radar star of the staff under Orgeron.

You're certainly entitled to your opinion, though. And only time will tell who's right and who's wrong.

Freeze has a tough task on his hands. I think he will do a good job, but will never win enough to satisfy the fan base. Ole Miss is going to have a tough time leaping any other program in the West. When will they be better than Bama, LSU, Arkansas, A&M, or Auburn. The only program they could overtake is Mississippi State. Also, Ole Miss has no QB and no future QB on its roster. This is a huge problem.

His biggest obstacle, obviously, is the SEC West and the strength of the conference. When I say he'll be a winner, that's relative. I think he can contend for third in the division once the program is established, and that's pretty good. I think he'd be a big success if he overtook Petrino.

Yes, this is reasonable.

I'm probably overly optimistic. That's ok, though.

As long as Mullen is at State, Ole Miss will play second fiddle in the state of Mississippi.

And on a side note: Ole Miss' stadium looks like a nice High School Stadium. I mean seriously...it sucks. State's stadium can't compete with Death Valley, Bryant-Denny, the Swamp, or Neyland but since the renovations it's a very nice stadium.

Believe it or not, fans of the Mississippi schools are completely satisfied with mediocre and losing seasons as long as they are beating the other in-state school.

No they're not.

It's just in state bragging rights--which is huge, no doubt, but I know ZERO State/Ole Miss fans are "satisfied" with losing.

The athletic department holds different expectations than a fan base. I'm a student at Mississippi State and everyone is thrilled with this season's outcome. Forget that State was taken to overtime by LA Tech and couldn't put a TD up on UAB until the 4th quarter, they believe this program is BCS bound in the next couple of years. State still has yet to beat an SEC West team besides Ole Miss under Mullen, yet they're talking championships!

Bet they are some very unhappy people then.

Kinda like we are right now except this is how they've been their entire life.

I guess that makes me feel alittle better.

Alittle.

I’m highly disappointed in not getting McGriff. He’s legit as a coach and as a recruiter. The best find for Shannon when he was at Miami. Freeze is really doing a good job playing the coaching game.
