Just watching from afar, it looks like this situation gives the academia leaders at Vandy, the exit they so want with a way to save face about ending football at a P5 level.

Vandy is a leech on the SEC's ass. There was a time when their academic prestige was almost necessary for the conference's image, but these days UGA and UF are both elite academic institutions and many other SEC schools are much more academically competitive thanks to lottery-funded scholarships and skyrocketing tuition at many private universities. If Vandy cancels, I hope the conference votes their sorry asses out.

Dont laugh, serious question. With everything thats been done on West End the last year or so, and now this.
Vanderbilt football pauses activities after positive COVID-19 tests

Vanderbilt is doing better than any other school in the SEC. Remember the equal split of the TV and Bowl revenues dwarfs their attendance revenue. They have the least cost exposure during the shutdown, are never short on their projected donations and no huge debt for new construction projects. They are the only SEC school who did not get carried away with greed, always spending the bare minimum to keep the cash cow.

Well if the rest of the SEC Schools had went the Vandy route we would be on about the same level as the Patriot League and the size TV revenue that goes with that league, Vandy is the Welfare program of the SEC. Take a lot and contribute very little.

This is not true. Vandy athletics owes the university millions of dollars for past scholarships that the athletic department has not been able to pay to the university. So the athletic department is in a big time home without even having upgraded facilities. Why do you think they keep cutting athletic employees.
