you talking about Vandy or us...if Helton doesn't gameplan better it won't matter anyway...plus by the second quarter we'll be down to Will as QB...the whole staff is gonna have to bring their best, along with the team for a win...it can be done...;)

GO VOLS...BEAT VANDY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

They've kicked our butts up front for two straight years. Ran it down our throats and sprinkled in the pass. You have to stop Vaughn and make Shumur beat you. They'll screen you to death, throw to the backs out of the backfield. It will give us fits. We'll have to score more than 20 to win this one.

If JG is healthy and the defense actually decides to show up, we can win. If not, well "next year"

IMO, Vandy is better than UK or Mo, They lost to both, but if you watch the games, they outplayed both

Game plan all you want, when you're fielding low talent players you aren't going to do well.

So riddle me this Batman. Do you think Helton calls one play and that is the only option the QB has when walks up to the line? Maybe in pee-wee football but not on this level. The QB has the option to change the play, not even getting into RPO's. It is pretty basic. If there are more men in the box than you can block, you do not run it. If there aren't more men in the box than you can block, then you do run it. We can talk about split safety or one safety defensive formations as well, but just stuck to the box on this post for arguments sake.

this. being able to snuff out the screens and being opportunistic in the run game will be key.

they don't necessarily fear 3rd and long, even though they're not great at it, because they utilize the screens so well.

like always, need to get off to a good start. put pressure on their offense to HAVE to score to keep pace.

or just let them get up by 3 TD's like FL did and then play the "got 'em right where we want 'em" game.......lol.

Also, they do a really good job of getting the tight ends into the passing game.

didn't know that, or just haven't paid enough attention......either way, that's where Buchannan and the LB's are going to have to be aware and win those match ups.

With the exception of SC, teams that run a balanced offense have beaten us soundly all season. Auburn and Kentucky are run first and throw only when you have to teams, and we stopped their run game. Unfortunately for us Vandy does not fall into that category.

You mean our players are less talented than Vandy? They don't have a player we tried to recruit, generally speaking. This is a game I expect to win, it's a mandatory win for any UT coach. They spend 30 million we spend 100 million plus on a football program. There is no wiggle room, no excuse nothing acceptable but a win here. My expectations for this season were to play competitively more than not and beat Vandy. My first expectation was met. I think the 2nd will be as well.

Hate to say it, but Vandy will be more motivated for this game and should win at home. This Volunteer team is done, they get down by 10+ points, they will pack it in. I hope I am wrong but unfortunately Vandy plays with more fire than UT most games and they have an offense that can score points.....Looks like a long winter in the weight-room for the Vols......

Except it won't really be a home game for them. Stadium will still be more Vol fans than Vandy fans.

They can pass and run the ball effectively and the Vols can only stop the run (and that's only if the opponent can't pass). Shurmur will look like a first round draft pick this week. Unfortunately, Vandy plays hard and as a team and the Vols have proven to fall apart at the first sign of adversity.

From what I saw at the Missouri game, either Tennessee is very weak as a team or they are ready for the season to be over. Sadly, it's a lot of both.
