That's clearly true. Johnson has a similar winning percentage to such greats as Woody Widenhoffer and Rod Dowhauer.
Vandy knows how to line up and run a play. Something we seem incapable of doing without running into someone's back or false starting.

I'd say we have better talent. They have the better coach. Unless you were trying to be sarcastic there. In which case i'll let myself out the door i came in.

it's sarcasm. It gets stronger with every ridiculous "Vandy is ranked we need to give up football" thread started on the main board

Call me when they beat a team that is going to finish with 7+ wins.

You maybe right but the fact bobby johnson has this team competitive is impressive. Say what you want. But thats damn near impossible to do at doctorbilt.

please show where he's doing anything the previous coaches haven't done. He gets a lot of credit for the same results

When was the last time vandy started 4-0 and was ranked in the top twenty five? Early eighties. Yeah i can't tell you who that guy was back in the stone ages.
He also started 4-0 in 04 or 05. No one else in recent vandy history has done that. So there you have it.

great he set a record for a 4-0 start. Still doesn't change the fact that he averages a bit over 3 wins per year. Pretty much the same as Woody, Dinardo, etc.

. . . and managed to finish 5-6. We've seen this before. The back half of Vandys schedule always causes problems for them.
Yep vandy is still vandy. But the guy coaching them isn't bad thats all i'am saying.

Vandy ALWAYS loses a game they shouldn't or blows one they had in the bag and chokes.

This year will be no different.

and then they'll lost the ones they should later and be looking outside in unless someone really likes them at 6-6 (assuming they make it there)

To answer a few of the questions posed in this thread.
GAVOL
Vandy might get bowl eligible, but I'd bet that they end up 6-6. Other than Mississippi State, I'm not sure they are better than anybody left on their schedule.

If you believe in rankings then VU (if they played this week) would be favored to win at Miss St, Duke, at Ky, and UT giving them 8 wins. They would be underdogs to Auburn and Wake F. Major underdogs to Ga and Florida.

The last time Vandy was favored to beat UT was 1982. Whit Taylor was Vandy's quarterback and they beat the Vols in what was a dreary rain soaked day. They went on to go to the Hall of Fame Bowl which was their last bowl appearance.

Vandy IMO is not only well coached but has some real talent. DJ Moore may be the best corner in the league. As with all Vandy teams they are not real deep but deeper than usual especially in the defensive secondary. I think this is the year that they finally break the bowl jinx. And it looks like it may be at the expense of Vols. And then again maybe its a blessing being the final straw for CPF.

Vandy is doing good, but let's not act like they've played a really tough schedule so far.

Very true...does everybody remember 3 yrs ago when Vandy went 4-0 and lost their next 6. Vandy is just as unpredictable as us. Go Vols and Go Dores!!
