Last year, there were a few preseason discussions over which game was more important, OU or UF.

I fell on the side of UF, thinking that a loss to OU would still allow us to attain goal of SECe champ with a win over UF.

I was wrong. Obviously, the "next game on the schedule" is always the RIGHT answer. But the loss to OU definitely seemed to affect the late game collapse against UF. "Here we go again" was painfully obvious.

Anyway, Va Tech is not in the same league as OU, but with all the hype surrounding this team, a trip up that early on could be a lasting blow.

The Ol Ball Coach always would talk about the first goal being to win the SECe. You can't win the SEC without it. And especially now, it would be nearly impossible make the playoffs without being conference champ.

I think if we start the year 4-0, then the rest of the season will take care of itself. (Insert obligatory take one game at a time comment).

VT's worst lost last year came with a 42-24 game against the Buckeyes. The rest of their loses were pretty close albeit to lesser competition. I think they are going to come in a play a pretty physical game, but just get outmatched with speed and talent.

Florida won't be easy. As much as my anger and hate towards the gators would like to predict a beating of epic proportions, I think it will take a well executed game plan and a few lucky bounces to break the streak.

I can't remember exactly how many years it's been since we started the season 4-0. We need that momentum this year.

Biggest College Football Spectacle in mankind's history ... and our name is associated with the losing side? Not so fast my friend. Look at this in 10 years if we lose to UF and win the rest, win the SEC, go on to the Natty. VN servers will melt for 5 days after a UF win. But, BoB will be talked @ for many years to come and we'll be associated with it in one way or the other. Long term it may not look so obvious.

Just sayin'

If the Vols were to lose to VT, would the Florida game lose it's importance?
It certainly would for me....

Why? We lose to VT (won't happen) and all of our goals are stil very attainable. Lose to Florida again however, and those goals are in great jeopardy....not to mention the angst and frustration and heartbreak that a 12th straight loss to the Gators would bend.

Possible outcome but highly doubtful...but 1 game doesn't define your season (tOSU 2014) they lost to VT...then ran the table and kicked the snot out of everyone to claim the NC!

If we lose to Florida, I don't see us winning the east. We would have to go undefeated the rest of the way and beat UGA, Bama and A&M, two of those on the road.

That's not gonna happen so why even entertain the scenario.

Its like asking about App State or Ohio.

Those are sure wins.

For all you guys and gals that believe this VT game is not even gonna be a game, yall are crazy. This game will be closer then the Florida game. (Willing to make a friendly bet) Keep on thinking they wont even be competition and you will be mighty disappointed. I will not say the Hokies will win, cause you guys are expected too...but they play the game for a reason, that's what is so great about college football....anything can happen.
