Va. Tech fans at my workplace

It's "deny," but I know those multi-syllabic words can be difficult for a Va Tech grad, so I'll forgive you.

Funny, the one national championship you remember is still a lot more than Va Tech has, or ever will have.

And yes, Tennessee has had a few thugs (Stallworth, Lewis, Haynesworth, etc.), but the point was that is all Va Tech has. They are known for one person, and that is Michael Vick. I can't name another major NFL player from there that I am aware of.
Was nice chatting with you, I will leave you guys alone to drown in your sorrows and think about the inferior Hokies that made you look pitiful on National TV, Until the next beating..... Hokies 4ever

Oh, come on... you haven't let facts get in the way of your statements before...

You aren't going to try to tell me that it really is spelled "denie" or that Va Tech does have national championships?? You clearly don't feel a need to substantiate your statements, so way not say it? What have you got to lose? Clearly not your credibility, since that was lost when you came to our board and tried to say that Va Tech has a better program.

Most VT fans have been very gracious (on Vol Nation). Even when they were taunted, I noticed some took the high road (before the game). I respect those people and would be willing to bet they are men of high character. Sadly, I see a different side of VT football when I read your posts.

you know, all things considered we (tech) are still a pretty young program. there are those of us that remember the bad times and really appreciate the success we're having now, but don't have delusions of being an elite program. then there are the "new" hokies (post-vick) that have only seen us winning acc championships and assume that that makes us elite (i don't need to tell any of you that winning the acc doesn't mean much.) i think that, given 20-30 years of consistent success, we may see things like a stadium expansion, a larger traveling fanbase, maybe even a national title. but i think most of us "original" hokies recognize that we aren't at the front of the national stage right now. not even close.

ANYWAY.

it was great to be with you all in atlanta. i always love having the opportunity to talk football with fans of a great program like ut.

You are one of the few Hokie fans who will admit that but I couldnt agree more....I live in the area and have seen the program when they were getting beat by Temple in front of 25,000 fans..All the bangwagon Tech fans who jumped on in the last 10 years are the ones who give your school a bad rep....ATL was some good times (minus the game outcome).....

I'm sure you were equally ill about Va Tech losing to East Carolina last year. Tennessee losing to Va Tech is the equivalent as Va Tech losing to ECU, to put it in perspective.

I'm not going to argue with the better team thing. Even though Tennessee is certainly more talented, Va Tech showed up and Tennessee did not on New Year's Eve. But better program? That is laughable. Va Tech can get six national championships, double the size of their stadium, double their athletic department revenue, multiply their fanbase by eight, start recruiting top tier athletes, and then we maybe the programs would be comparable. Let me know when that happens, but until then I wouldn't intentionally bring up comparisons to any major college football program if I were a Va Tech fan.

...and when I think of Va Tech, I don't think of anything, because they are irrelevant... then if I think really hard, I think of dogs being tortured by Vick 1, and Vick 2 engaging in statutory rape, then stomping on a player that is down, then holding up a McDonald's (all while remaining on the team). And then I think of the big, empty trophy case they are so proud of there. I think of a small stadium surrounded by cow pasture. And then, after all that thinking about Va Tech, I think about how thankful I am to be a Volunteer, and how regardless of how many losses we have to inferior opponents, its still is great to be a Tennessee Vol.

Smack talk about the Vicks is pretty amusing coming from a UT fan. Seriously, I mean is driving drunk and killing another human being a class they teach at UT?

Seriously, I think more Va Tech fans are showing up to our boards than showed up to Atlanta.

If you had read the entire thread, you would have read this...

"And yes, Tennessee has had a few thugs (Stallworth, Lewis, Haynesworth, etc.), but the point was that is all Va Tech has. They are known for one person, and that is Michael Vick. I can't name another major NFL player from there that I am aware of."

I'm not even going to defend Stallworth's actions, because clearly he was irresponsible, but it also wasn't intentional. Are you going to try to say that Vick accidentally tortured dogs for years? Being stupid and irresponsible are less of a character flaw than being flat out cruel.

I give props to the Hokies for the win. Their DLine beat our OLine. However, most of the Hokies I know are smart enough to realize that if JJ doesn't get beat at the end of the 1st half and if D Moore catches that pass it might have been a bit different. It also deflates them when they realize that we were only the 6th best team in the SEC. I assure them that maybe in another 15 years UT and VT will get to play again but it'll only happen if Tech can stay on top and we have a down year. The Vols are on to bigger and better things and are not concerned with a regional school and second tier bowl games.

Three Va. Tech fans from my job are complete moron. Thet have no repect for Tenn. Vols at all. They act like that Va. Tech have won the BCS champonship.
I hate Va. Tech even more than ever now.:finger3: They have no class what so ever. (sigh) I wish Tenn. had won the ballgame, so these fans wouldn't act like moron.

Now these VT fans might just be morons, but you have to look at some of your fans and see how much trash you guys were giving before the game.

Sometimes what goes around comes back around.

The feel not only on our message boards but in the locker room and probably on the field, is that Tennessee talked a big game before the CFA bowl, but laid an egg when it came to game time.

food for thought.

I would say there is some truth to that. I will be the first to admit that we have our share of big mouths. Congrats on a well played game.

The tech fan at my office, "Hokie Hal" as he calls himself, has been pouring it on all week, with ringtones, game score posters, etc. He's a real jerk.

You should take one of those posters to the restroom and "decorate" it yourself and give it back to him...I bet "Hokie Hal" was nowhere to be found this time 15 years ago. When Tennessee can play VT on an even footing, talent-wise, He'd crawl back into his hole quickly. Amazing how lippy folks get when their 3rd place team beats our 6th place team.... Oh well... to the victors go the spoils.... I do hope Tennessee gets another crack at VT in the next couple of years....

The Jokies are just a bunch of wannabes. They had one good year with a dog torturer at quarterback, and it wasn't even that good. Other than that, they've had a bunch of years where they were the best team in the ACC, but always seem to choke to an inferior team and don't even win their conference.

They've been wanting another shot at UT ever since we destroyed them in that Gator Bowl when Peyton was a freshman. I hope they enjoyed it, because their next meeting with UT won't be to their liking...assuming it ever happens. Pretty soon, we'll be back in the BCS and they'll still be choking their way into second-tier bowls.
