Va. Tech fans at my workplace

Regardless of the outcome, we're still Tennessee and they're still just Va Tech. This is the peak of their program right now. Their program is Beamer, and the second he is gone they go back to being the irrelevant team nobody had heard of. If any other coach ever experiences any sort of success there in the future, he will bolt for one of the big programs. Beamer only stayed there because it is his alma mater.

Just a question, how many players have you put in the NFL in the past three years.

Why pick the last three years, why not the last 10? My guess is you know this is the period in which UT was down under Fulmer so it benefits you to use this time period because it has been the best period for your team?

How does this negate the post you replied to in any way?

Probably more than a nobody like Va Tech... But getting drafted into the NFL isn't that big a deal. Staying in the NFL is. I don't feel like taking the time to look this up, but I would bet everything I have, and then take a loan out to bet more, that Tennessee has more players on NFL rosters than Va Tech. I know that is accurate without even looking it up, but feel free to fact check me.

I'm sure Va Tech can get a few players drafted, since any decent player should have good numbers playing ACC level competition, but I can't see too many of them having staying power, since if a player were any good they'd probably be at a bigger program than Va Tech. I do know one of our better players is the best QB in the NFL, and the best player (only player anyone has heard of) from Virginia Tech just got out of jail for torturing puppies. I guess the lack of class that Va Tech fans possess must have trickled down to the players as well.

I live in WV, so there is neither a lot of Vol fans, nor VT fans around here. I would say much more Vol fans tho, I see a lot of Power T's on cars, and stuff.

Anyhow, at the gym where I work out, there is one guy who is a VT fan, and older guy, I would say mid 70's!! I had a Vol shirt on in there a few weeks ago, and he told me he was a VT fan, and we talked a bit about the game coming up, and that was about it.
Saw him yesterday for the first time since the game, even he was talkin sh!t!! I couldn't believe it!!:eek:lol:
He kept saying how big of baby Kiffin was about the handshake, etc. I said maybe if VT would have laid off the bliztes that put our QB in the hospital when the game was decided, he would have acted differently!!

I just said VT played well, and walked off before he got to riled up and broke a hip or something!!!:shakehead:
Do not try to score in the last minute of the game to make it look a little respectful and your QB will not get owned.

First of all it was just a question, you do not have to be ill about the whoopin, it happens, not to us as often playing in the awful ACC , but what can I say. When we were in the Big East everyone said the same thing then also. Not trying to pick a fight with you , I was just asking a question that I did not know the answer. But as always with a Vol fan , you talk ,blame and try to justify a loss to a better team, and program as of late. When I hear the Vols I think of Womens Basketball, and for that program, it is in a class of its own.

I'm sure you were equally ill about Va Tech losing to East Carolina last year. Tennessee losing to Va Tech is the equivalent as Va Tech losing to ECU, to put it in perspective.

I'm not going to argue with the better team thing. Even though Tennessee is certainly more talented, Va Tech showed up and Tennessee did not on New Year's Eve. But better program? That is laughable. Va Tech can get six national championships, double the size of their stadium, double their athletic department revenue, multiply their fanbase by eight, start recruiting top tier athletes, and then we maybe the programs would be comparable. Let me know when that happens, but until then I wouldn't intentionally bring up comparisons to any major college football program if I were a Va Tech fan.

...and when I think of Va Tech, I don't think of anything, because they are irrelevant... then if I think really hard, I think of dogs being tortured by Vick 1, and Vick 2 engaging in statutory rape, then stomping on a player that is down, then holding up a McDonald's (all while remaining on the team). And then I think of the big, empty trophy case they are so proud of there. I think of a small stadium surrounded by cow pasture. And then, after all that thinking about Va Tech, I think about how thankful I am to be a Volunteer, and how regardless of how many losses we have to inferior opponents, its still is great to be a Tennessee Vol.

In fairness, MV1 didn't engage in dogfighting until shortly after he left VT. MV2 was kicked off the team after the Gator Bowl stomping incident and was not on the team for the McDonalds incident. As for NFL hokies this is your site.

I apologize, the only one I remember in my 31 years was in the 90's, when Arkansas QB handed the title to you.And about ECU, this year they were a better team than the Vols, and gave Arkansas all they wanted. Now about Vick, he gave us a black eye and so did his brother, I do not try to denie this. But if you want to compare felons and run in's with law enforcement I do not think you want to go there. J. Lewis , four basketball players last week . And a recruit that was charged with rape at the age of 14 I think.

Yeah, you VT fans are all class. Nice going. True colors and all that, ya know? And you do know what I mean.

Pathetic.

^^^What he said^^^
At the moment ECU is really good, especially for a mid major. I don't know what will happen post Holtz though.

you know, all things considered we (tech) are still a pretty young program. there are those of us that remember the bad times and really appreciate the success we're having now, but don't have delusions of being an elite program. then there are the "new" hokies (post-vick) that have only seen us winning acc championships and assume that that makes us elite (i don't need to tell any of you that winning the acc doesn't mean much.) i think that, given 20-30 years of consistent success, we may see things like a stadium expansion, a larger traveling fanbase, maybe even a national title. but i think most of us "original" hokies recognize that we aren't at the front of the national stage right now. not even close.

ANYWAY.

it was great to be with you all in atlanta. i always love having the opportunity to talk football with fans of a great program like ut.

It's "deny," but I know those multi-syllabic words can be difficult for a Va Tech grad, so I'll forgive you.

Funny, the one national championship you remember is still a lot more than Va Tech has, or ever will have.

And yes, Tennessee has had a few thugs (Stallworth, Lewis, Haynesworth, etc.), but the point was that is all Va Tech has. They are known for one person, and that is Michael Vick. I can't name another major NFL player from there that I am aware of.

if you believe that you're nuts. He may not have financed fights until he left VT but I doubt he just discovered it upon entering the NFL.
