Our whole administration today handed out letters to us at school because some student wrote a huge hit list. We went on lockdown and the student was exspelled immediatley.Do you think since the VaTech incident there are going to be alot of kids doing this sorta of stuff?

These type of things always spon copycats because they see how much media attention these events get and they wanna be "famous". Everyone just stay safe because there is a chance something else on some campus will happen within the next month.

In the murderers rambling video he gave credit to the teenage shooters at Columbine. Does that answer the question?

But that isn't the reason these people kill. They may seek media attention, but its not fair to say the media showing these events causes these masacres to happen. They kill because they are crazy or just choose to.

I find it funny because some of the same people that tell me "guns don't kill people, people kill people" (which I agree), then say "the media showing Cho's manifesto will only encourage others to do the same."

So you think the fact a non-citizen can buy a gun, with no waiting period, is okay, but NBC News encourages people to "copycat" the massacre? Sorry, you can't have it both ways. People kill people. They deserve the blame, not the weapons they use or NBC news.

All goth kids aren't pyscho killers...they're just wanting attention. No reason to single out a certain "type" as killers.

local high school (Bethel Park) had to have a lockdown due to someone writing on the bathroom stalls sayin they were gonna plant a bomb on such and such a date so like 800 kids didn't go to school that day. The kids had to dump everything out of their lockers and weren't able to carry a bookbag to school.

The issue is attention and fame and NBC was guilty of putting ratings ahead of good sense. An announcement that they had received the package and turned it over to the police would not have given them the scoop and ratings boost.

You are right in that people kill people and for various reasons. One reason for these demented people is the attention and if you take that away (like dwell on the victims and not the unbalanced person) you might reduce the number of incidents.

I disagree with you there, but that's just a matter of opinion. I think Colombine and the VT Massacre would have happened regardless of the media attention the killers craved.

Sadly enough, this will eventually happen again.
Anytime between tomorrow, and 10 years from now.

Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold started the shooting at Columbine High and killed 13 ppl, 15 including them.

They said they knew they would have followers, & 8 years later, Cho who killed 33 people at VaTech said he admired Eric & Dylan.

He also compared himself to Jesus Christ. What do you read into that?
