'26 VA RB Savion Hiter

Per VQ

Savion Hiter and Tennessee remain in good contact ahead of his decision in just over two weeks. This remains a recruitment with little to no information because Hiter keeps things close. It’s our belief that he has not told a school of his decision as he and his family work toward a choice.

We continue to feel like Tennessee has a ton of momentum heading into the home stretch of this one. Michigan also feels good so it will be interesting to see if Tennessee can get an August win over a Big 10 team two years in a row.

I continue to pick up on the 'VQ code' in comparing Hiter's recruitment and commitment to David Sanders' from last year as a way of believing that he will pick the Vols.
AP on VQ was also adamant that we had a chance at landing Salesi Moa, even when the national media kept saying Utah was the pick. At this point, if AP and VQ are confident on us landing Hiter - or anyone else for that matter - then you can take it to the bank.

I'm with you. I think the instances where he's not is when a recruit genuinely changes his mind or has been lying to the staff/VQ guys.

Pretty confident here as well. Just going to point out things can change quickly though especially when money is involved. Also knowing a kid enough to know what he values over money; that’s what won us Sanders last year over Ohio state.

What was it with Sanders again? If I remember right we offered to cover housing for family? Could be wrong

A big part of it was his whole family could get to all of his games. Getting the money right as well but that was the built in advantage that Tennessee had and they made sure to highlight that.

I do not like Michigan whatsoever. Have a lot of Michigan fan family and coworkers. They’re the worst. I remember having never talked to any of them about football, but they knew I was a UT alum and fan. After Purdue stole that game from us in 2021, one of them texted me a wink emoji and then 2 more went out of their way to give me s*** the next day. Beating them out here would be just so sweet. Tennessee beating, impeding or even minorly inconveniencing UofM in any way is something I am all for.

They came for you about the Purdue game…..the day after Georgia beat the f*** out of them?

Not sure how endowments ever got conflated with NIL. Virginia has a higher endowment than Ohio State. How is that working out for Virginia when it comes to athletics? You mentioned Phil Knight. Oregon's endowment is below ours at 1.6 (Tennessee's is 1.7 as of the end of FY2024) Endowments include various assets like for instance take real estate. Is Texas going to sell one of their structures for more NIL money for the 2025 season? It's pointless in this discussion. To your point, yes we are in agreement. My main point was, Hiter is not going to pick Michigan because they choose to liquidate one of their assets. He!!, it may not be all about NIL. But it's easy to surmise Tennessee's offer is substantial enough to have his interest seeing that it's down to us and Michigan with Ohio State and Georgia on the outside looking in.
I put a pause on automatically thinking endowment's meant a school was financially well-off when Harvard (who has the largest endowment at $53 billion) was not in financially good shape. Their endowment is apparently tied up in a bunch of non-liquid assets along with the normal conditions that donors put on contributions. I guess it does mean that those schools have people willing to contribute, but as you say, the question is what will they contribute to? I believe Vandy's endowment is over $10 billion. That's not getting them anywhere in the NIL space.

Could be an out of nowhere thing like Moa and end up at UGA
