With all due respect to anyone who criticizes Sims (or the staff in general), that is ignorant. He is the #1 RB recruit in the country and we had no prior or current built in advantages. Michigan had a head start with some prior relationships. The fact that UT is a major factor going into the decision is a sign of a great recruiting pitch. Criticism here is just plan stupid. When AP says terms like tea leaves read, he’s saying he’s heard something bad but doesn’t want to crap on the kid’s moment. We’ll continue swinging but sounding like Michigan here.
Sims will get some criticism but he’s been an absolute beast on the recruiting trail. Still think he’s been a huge addition to recruiting staff.
There have been recruits who we had built-in advantages, were not #1 at their position and we did not close on them. Those recruitments could fairly receive criticism.
