'26 VA RB Savion Hiter (Michigan commit)

Wow, guess they will all be lining up to go to FSU since they were the firstvschool to have one drafted in the first 3 rounds in 24’.

It's based more on long term track record than a one off year. Alabama historically under Saban had this credibility given their RBs were consistently getting drafted high. But then again you could say that for almost every position at Alabama with Saban. It's the main reason they dominated in recruiting.

Bottom line only HIGHLY gifted RB’s will be valued like the old days. QB, DB, DL, exceptional OL are where the money is going.

WRs get paid as well. The least valued positions are RB, off-ball linebacker, box safety, and interior o-line/run stuffing DTs. Basically anything that helps or hinders the pass game is valued. Stopping the run or running the ball is no longer valued highly. With that said it's possible this changes going forward as the league becomes more run focused. The Eagles this year proved that you can win a championship build around a dominant run game rather than pass game. If more run focused teams win you could see the trend of focusing on the pass game change.

I agree with all of this. But I still am not convinced that you need an elite RB recruit in this offense. I think there are certain offenses that are RB friendly. And it’s more about having a certain type of RB, rather than the highest rated.

I believe the better we can recruit the best players at any position, the better our team will be be. It is just not RBs or QBs etc.

You got to stop the run in the sec, and get pressure on the QB. DT’s are very important. Interior lineman are very important, you can’t win consistently in the sec without being tough at the LOS. GBO

I was speaking more about the NFL than college football there. In college running the ball has definitely been more important historically.

I've not considered this one to be anything but wishful thinking. Having said that, it would be a huge, huge get for Heupel. Since he's been unable to solve the puzzle of the Tulsa gambit that's being employed by so many against us, it appears we'll be even more dependent on the running game going forward. Getting a guy who's a real home run threat would be a real plus.....along with legit OL and coaching. Really hope we snag this one.
