definitely one area that has room for improvement.

We would be 15-2 if we shoot 50% from the stripe in the last two games(and possibly ranked in the top 10).

Maybe Pearl should make each of them sink 100 of them after practice before they can go home.

On Vol Calls tonight, a caller asked about what could be improved about the foul shooting, and Pearl gave a good answer.

He said that when he looked at the tape, he could see that when Ramar and Lofton dribbled the ball they looked down at the ball and looked up at the rim just before they shot the ball. This is different from what he believes. Pearl says he prefers a strategy of looking at the rim the entire time, that way visually, nothing new jumps out at the shooter. He said possibly that was a reason an experienced shooter like Chris missed, because he saw his target too late.

Not sure if they will be able to break some of our guys' habits, but I agree with his philosophy from when I play recreationally.

Ranked 145th - that sheds a different light on it. Knew we were having our troubles from the line, but I didn't realize it was that bad.

Very true. Poor free throw shooting really shows up big in the close games, and you would think that will be how most of the SEC games that we play in will be - close. We've got to improve!!

Sounds like an excuse aimed at propping up some confidence, but the only real way to improve is shoot lots of 'em, preferably under some sort of pressure.

The way it looks right now, a couple of missed free throws might be the difference in us being a 3 or 4 seed and a 6 or 7 seed come March.
