1.QB has surgery
2.Rebuilding offensive line
3.Rogers,Taylor,Briscoe,Hancock combined for 26 receptions,252 yards,no touchdowns (Lucas had 14 of the 26 receptions).
4.Running backs will have to step up fast especially our first few games IMO.

I have nothing but confidence when Coker is in the backfield. The others ehhh....not so much.

I'm optimistic based on what I've been reading. Next year's offense will be a little different, hopefully making the best use of returning players.

A different set 2 TE, 2 WR. One TE lining up as a HB and the RB lining up as a slot receiver on some plays. Also sounds like a few more trick plays with Taylor lining up under the center. Hopefully enough different looks that defenses won't get too comfortable with UT. Hoepfully with the changes to the offensive line's blocking techniques will start to payoff.

Personally, I've never wondered why Tennessee hasn't flirted with the Pro Set. I don't see many people doing it these days, but if they love Foster so much and Coker is making plays then why not? I think it would be deadly if Hardesty ever came around sweeps, playactions, putting him in motion, screens. This is all based on that Coker is his normal playmaking self.

I guess that's why I'm butt naked about to get in the shower and not blowing a whistle on the football field in Knoxville right now. Truth........

Yeah, I should have clarified that. That's what I meant. If we are going to have this fast paced in shape offense then why even have a fullback. And with the lack of experience at WR put an extra man in the backfield instead of running Singleback.

I still think if we even run an offense with a fullback that the fullback should be Foster. Shawn Bryson was the same exact size (maybe a wee bit bigger) than Foster. You remember how many first downs we got (and a TD in the National Championship game) with that little roll out to the athletic FB? not to mention the 50 yard plus surprise FB up the middle against Florida in 98.

I like fast athletic undersized fullbacks. Put Foster there.

Very true. Also when Bryson hit a hole by god he hit it. Foster and Hardesty must have been taking the same dance lessons last year. I'm just saying having Foster in there poses a much bigger threat than who do we have David Holbert? If I were a defensive coordinator in the SEC I'd be more worried about a Coker/Hardesty/Foster combo than Coker/Holbert, Foster/Holbert, etc....

I think Hardersty would be nice in a Brain Westbrook (RB for the Philly Eagles I think thats his name) roll. Andy Reid sets him up all the time where he is man up with a Linebacker and it works. If they say well we'll put a SS or FS on him...BAM! you have a part of the field with no centerfielder to cover. Missmatches son, missmatches.

I have confidence that this year dancing in the backfield will be at a minimum and those three RB's will be at cutthroat competition with each other only pushing the bar higher.

....or at least that is what I hope.

I used to say the EXACT same thing about Cedric Houston. Once he got out in space, he was going to get some serious yards. Pounding it up the middle, he was just decent. It always irritated me that Randy Sanders never picked up on this.

I was talking more about Hardesty in a Pro Set coming out of the backfield for a pass, or even going in motion from the Pro Set. I like a Pro Set, if you can't tell. I'm sure there is a downfall somewhere in it but I like it.

I was just talking about how Westbrook (until last season) wasn't really a threat to run, but he was probably the best receiver on the team. The Eagles found ways to get him the ball other than simple handoffs.

Okay I got you.

I'm real big on Hardesty. I think the kid will do big things in Orange. 06 he showed signs of being the real deal but the jibba-jabba steps didn't really excite me. This year he needs to find a niche in the Tennessee offense and I think that niche is the dual run/reciever threat.

He kind of reminds me of a Travis Stephans, in that he runs hard (once he decides he wants to run) and isn't a Jamal Lewis type bruiser, but his body and the way he moves makes me think Reggie Bush. Crazy maybe?

He and Lucas Taylor seem to be the players that a sizable portion of Volnation pretty much has given up on. I still think both of them will contribute.

Hardesty has too much talent to give up on. I will say he got me fired up sometime last year and I would be saying "Oh Hell" when he got in the game but after some time off and remembering his game, I like what I see. He just needs to progress.

Apparently to some, one poor performance behind a lackluster offensive line and against the nation's best front seven is all that is required to forecast the future of a running back. I think quite a few posters had given up on Hardesty after that Florida loss.

As of right now, I'm more down on Foster than any other back we have. That doesn't mean I cheer against him or anything I just expected more in 2006. Maybe I expected too much.
