In the spirit of the famous football defensive units of the past, I think UT’s defense needs a name, ala the Miami Dolphins’ No Name Defense, Pittsburgh’s Steel Curtain, and Denver’s Orange Crush, I suggest Monte’s Python because of the way our defense collectively wraps itself around the opposing team’s offense, constricting the life out of it and filling the offensive coordinators of upcoming opponents with mortal fear of CMK in the way that mere mortals of ancient mythological times feared the wrath of Zeus.

Feel free to discuss among yourselves and provide your own suggestions.

I don't think you need a name for your defense. Those teams you mentioned were flippin amazing. If UT was #1 in defensive categories, maybe, but their not and UT is 4-4. Your D is very good, don't get me wrong, but not worthy of it's own name. Then again, you can call them whatever you want. It's your team..

I really don't understand why we have to come up with stupid names for everything.

Is it because people want to say "I was the first to come up with that!" when they coin the phrase or nick name in the papers or on tv?

I think it's all stupid. Call the players and coaches their given names, unless they change it Ocho Cinco style.

I kinda agree with not giving a name. Usually the ones that are given names that are actually recognized and stick are legendary defenses. I'm as big of a fan of our defense as prob anybody but there are two teams in the conference ranked higher than us. Granted they are also ranked really high nationally, but the point still remains. I think we are great, but not all time legendary.

You will notice that those other defenses have nicknames for a reason, they were bad ass. Our defense is good, yes, but we are 4-4. Lets win a championship first

No reason to think up a name. Because once our team really gets clicking in 2010 or 2011 the media will christen them with a name and that's what will stick. What we conjure up won't matter.

The D is playing well but we actually dropped statistically after the USCJr. game. Our best D stat is 13th overall (total D).
