With a new QB era starting in 2010, and fans are probably hoping it is Tyler Bray starting, let us look back at the time when we had an era of great QB's at The University of Tennessee, which started in 1990.

The era started with Andy Kelly (which was a carryover from 1989)to Heath Shuler until his surprising announcement of entering the draft after the '93 season. It was on to Peyton during a rebuiliding '94 campaign after Colquitt and Helton struggled, giving was to Tee Martin which brought us the NC the year after. After Matthews and Suggs couldn't cut it the Clausen era was ushered in with clutch victories. There was uncertainty of who was next until Cutcliffe came back and gave us the Ainge era. Ainge went on to the NFL.

So, who do you think UT's best QB was since 1990? There should be varying opinions to this topic

Over/Under on how many times "it sure isn't Crompton" happens in this thread?

Depending on the possible size of it, I'll put it at 6.5 times

Peyton Manning is the best since 1990. Now, if this was your favorite QB, well, that's a different story.

Peyton Manning is probably the best NFL Quarterback of all times. The University of Tennessee's best would have to be Tee Martin. He brought UT a national title. Championships are won on the field. That reason along has me voting for Tee Martin.

The bad thing about Peyton is that he can never beat Florida, and that is what the stigma was with him. He should have done it in '95 but the defense let him down.

However, he did beat Bama during his tenure:D

yes Tee was the QB but the street should be named after Al Wilson

Shouldn't have put Peyton on the list. Then it would have been an interesting poll. I don't think you could go wrong picking between Martin, Clausen and Ainge. I have a feeling the outcome of the poll would be in the order listed but I like Clausen and Ainge a lot. I might choose Clausen over Martin...

Minus his sophomore year, Ainge was pretty darn good. Then again, I'd probably have to pick Shuler over anyone else (excluding Peyton).

Yes, I understand what you are saying, but the defense was also strong under Peyton. Tee did what he had to do while being the leader of the team. Titles are what you are remembered by.

Unfortuneatly, we can't leave that part of UT history out. Some fans will say where's Peyton in all this.

Yeah. Could have explained to everyone that you didn't want to put him on the list though because it's obvious he is going to win. I think he is the best of the bunch but I voted for someone else. :p

I am just trying to give Tee a little respect. I know Peyton is a once in a lifetime talent. His pictures are hanging all over my restaurant. It just seems like Tee gets left out alot. We all will never forget the 1998 season.

Al Wilson had more to do with bring a NC to Knoxville than Tee Martin. Al was the leader of that team by miles. Peyton is the best pure QB in UT history. If Peyton would have more help in the run game during his tenure and didn't try to do everything himself, he probably would've got us one at least.

Probably, but didn't. Tee did. That is what matters.
